Great festival, as ever. Sorry more of you couldn't make it - maybe next year? Highlights for me included the Pitfield Eco Warrier (from Essex), the two-year old Cantillon Lambic (from Belgium) and (a revelation, this!) the Troll Saison Dau (from Italy). I failed to locate Jase on the Thursday, but did (fleetingly!) meet VotP. I worked behind the bar yesterday - serving some excellent beers from Yorkshire and the North East (and doing my best not to confuse Captain Cook Porter with Captain Oates Mild ;D ). Somewhat knack*red now - but ready for Sutton's final pre-season match at Kingstonian.

It was a good do. Apologies AA, it was a bit like one of those soap opera devices when an actor is dead/in jail/wanting a pay rise, they get sent off on some errand and dont return. I went to find a chair (Bleedin' gold dust; "No it's my mates; he's just 'phoned. He's on his way") then realised I needed a top-up, queued for a while, met some people from work (unexpectedly), chatted to Rob. had some food etc. When I did make it back you had either gone or were at the bar. Anyway good to put face to name if only briefly and thanks for not wearing your clubs colours ;D Hopefully will make the Wallington fest in October.

Do not despair! There are a lot of CAMRA beer festivals coming up over the next few months - in the South East alone these include St Albans, Ascot, Wallington, Twickenham, Worthing, Woking and Watford. And there's an array of pubs running their own festivals. So plenty of imbibing opportunities ahead. Sadly, I can't take advantage of them all.

Didn't see any yellow/brown shirts at GBBF and it didn't seem worth looking high and low for anyone given that Medibot and Amber weren't there! Didn't see many football shirts at all - only a King's Lynn fan and I tend to keep away from violent racist jerks... I was pretty disappointed with the festival to be honest. Pretty much all of the interesting American stuff had sold out, along with all the interesting stuff from around the world. I usually find Triple FFF beers to be dull as ditchwater (the ditchwater often tastes better too) so didn't even bother hunting down the new champion beer. Managed to find about 10 unusual golden beers (it was far too hot for anything else), but I don't think I found a single 'winner' brewery and the number of brews I'd already tried before was frightening. Beer quality was as high as usual though - can't fault that at all. Six Tamuff made it down on Thursday and a similar number did the Wednesday session, so at least it was sociable. I'm not sure I'll bother with GBBF in future as it is getting far too expensive. Ten sheets to get in, a quid for the programme (!), £3 for the ugly sponsored glass (at least you get that back) and beer prices averaging £2.80-£3 per pint is getting too expensive even for rich b'stards like me. Tamworth Festival is the first week of September and is a tickers' paradise. I know several local breweries are launching new brews at this year's event and we'll be getting the first barrel to leave the Griffin Brewery, plus several local brews that have been 'laid down' to mature for a while. The beer orderer is a big ticker himself, so there are always loads of exotic/rare brews sourced from around the UK. It could be his last ever festival, so I do strongly recommend it this year.
