I had a 24 pack of Walkers in here that I'd purchased at 3am one morning, admittedly while drunk, along with two bottles of vodka and a loaf of freshly made bread. Today, I realised that they're nowhere to be seen. They've been spirited away over the past 5 weeks, presumably by the cleaners. Same thing happened over Christmas in a mate's room, where we'd stashed our two bottles of Sourz and shot glasses, only for them to have disappeared by the time we got back. I'd chipped in good money for that stuff as well I'm complaining to the porter tomorrow morning

Shocking! If they were in my room, they wouldn't have lasted five minutes, let alone five weeks ;D

Blimey; that's years old, that is.
I was thinking it might be some kind of 'class war' type demonstration on the part of the cleaners, but if so they're picking on the wrong people.
I'll be happy to finally live out, come the end of this year. There can't be many universities who force students to live-in for a year.

It would be presumptious to assume it's already the cleaners. If it is, then fair enough, but vodka and crisps? I mean, howay.
Should've joined Cuthbert, I'm fairly sure they don't require you to live in.

I locked my door and handed my key in. The only people who could get in would be the porters, the cleaners or estates & buildings.
The porter: Why would he? Estates & Buildings: Nothing's broken. The cleaners: Prime suspects.
I'm pretty sure it's a university policy rather than down to which college you're part of. All the people I know from Cuths are living in for the first year.

A number of Cuthbert students choose to 'live out' during the first year. It isn't a requirement to live in. If so, it would be highly inconvenient to mature students, people with families etc.

They may well be different. They seem to be different regarding most things anyway.

Is there, perhaps, any small print in the terms of your contract that bans alcoholic beverages from being stored on the premises?
However you cut it, though, it's rough to get your stuff nicked like that. Never mind, it's their own Karma they're wrecking, not yours.

More than likely binned, along with the 5 week old loaf, as a potential health hazard.......

I'd eaten the loaf before I left.
I wouldn't have minded the loaf so much, as it would have gone mouldy, but crisps?

Stealing the crisps is strange. 24 pack would cost what, a couple of quid? Suppose Vodka could be worth something if it was decent (I'm no vodka fan so I don't really know)
Also 24 packs are a canny size. Why bin them?

Well i can't say for certain, i lost touch with coshh regs after leaving the paint industry back in 2003, but there's any number of barmy 'elf and safety regs these days, perhaps they are classed as a biohazard? Maybe Al Quaeda have found a way of combining chemicals found within the crisps, the alcohol and the glass containers to make wmd neccesitating the removal and safe disposal of robot's stuff? Who knows? Maybe other students have got hold of a skeleton key and went in search of contraband? Either way, whoever wins the election next week needs to get it sorted out. Robot, do you have any contacts in the Brum area who are attending the leaders denate on Thursday? The nation needs to know what Rodders, Call-me-Dave and Barmy Browny intend to do about it. This could be THE issue that settles the election for once and for all........
