....I'll try it again. Asking for people to wish you luck on this forum has seemed to have a positive effect for several people. Still going through medical school applications, I applied to Keele, Manchester, Liverpool & Leicester. Liverpool have already said no, the circumstances leading to this very nearly got a topic on Heroes & Villains. Manchester said applicants would know their decision by yesterday. I haven't heard but am giving a few days as post is always on a go slow at this time of year, college have advised however that if I hear nothing on Monday I should call them. Keele and Leicester sent me letters thanking me for applying but that's all I've heard so far. How it works is I apply to 4 medical schools, they pick some applicants who they like the look of and call them in for interview. Of them they will then offer those who do well a place (usually providing they get grades AAB at A-level). Any wishes of good luck would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the first at least, if not the best or most valuable: ALL the very, very best, young man. Seriously hope all works out, and that our collective positive karma/thoughts/prayers on here will produce the right result for you and the world!! [Regarding the Liverpool thing, you probably didn't exhibit enough self-pity in the interview. According to the ConfForum that IS the defining characteristic of that City. COSP.] All the best though, Dude, and keep us informed when your ship comes in!

Good luck, young fellow. Any reason why not London either? I'm sure you'll let us know how you get on!

Thanks all. I have an interview at Leicester on 27th February. ;D ;D ;D the letter came while I was at college. I told my parents that if any post comes while I'm out and it's from a University they can open it and phone me. As I left my mobile at home today as I was in a rush my mum instead phoned the college, who told my chemistry teacher to pass on the message when I came back after break. Phoned Manchester on Monday, there is a delay so will hear untill mid January probably. Still waiting on Keele but from what I've been told there is plenty of time yet. I did look at Birmingham but they were one of the Universities with GCSE requirements that were high to the point of being silly, 7A* grades minimum, in contrast to my 2A* grades. I don't personally know anyone with that many A* grades at GCSE. London was a long way to travel back to Telford (for the football of course) while the others are a relatively short train journey (except Keele which doesn't have a train station but is only an hour's drive). Interview at Leicester is quite a way away, this atleast means i have a lot of time to practice before hand.

Giggy, you can get a bus from Keele to Stoke station. They run every 20-30 mins.

After revising untill about 3 in the morning last night I woke up to an email from UCAS telling me Manchester had said no. Not feeling great right now.
