Hmm, logistics. Am in Kent Friday, and COULD go via the GBBF - and Thursday is worth it for the entertainment alone! I may have floor space if you want somewhere to stay

For those who haven't heard - this year's champion Beer of Britain (chosen by CAMRA's tasting panel, and announced at the festival on Tuesday) is Hobson's Mild. The brewery is at Cleobury Mortimer in south Shropshire - anybody tried it outside Earls Court? A few of us sampled this beer at the festival on Thursday. (We just happened to be sitting near the bar where it was being served. ;D ) Pleasant enough - but not, in our view, as good as the Holden's Mild.

Nick drank...
Oakleaf Hole Hearted (for the absent ISIHAC hard at work!) Hobson's Mild (for Jase J who buggered his knee and couldn't come!) Stonehenge Spire Ale (to drink beer brewed by a huge Dane) Breconshire Red Dragon (patriotic reasons) Purple Moose Cwrw Glaslyn (won a medal and was Welsh) Warcop Pit Shaft (cos it was from Newport) Atlas Latitude (cos i was recommended it) Marston's Hoggy's Night Watchman (cos it was supposedly concocted by England test cricketer Matthew Hoggard!) Surrey Hills Ranmore Ale (because i'd never drank Surrey Hills before and a pub in Epsom that served it came up in debate with the randoms on our table) Holden's Black Country Mild (cos it was the nearest Mild to our table!)
Damn good day. Was meant to head to the Brickklayers in Putney after but commonsense got the better of me and i headed back to Brighton.
Top day though!

How-in-the-name-of ARSE do you remember all that?

I managed some of the Hobsons Mild out of loyalty. My Mum and Dad were born and brung up in Cleobury and I know it v well. Avoided anything Welsh Liked the Bushy's Oyster stout; tried the Hoggy stuff but not so impressed with that. In the end it came down to where the queues were smallest. Had a nice veg curry and spent an amusing time pushing up the bids at the auction till I came worryingly close to winning an apparently collectable beermat. Managed to liaise with the mrs as well and so got a lift back from the station - result!

Always makes sense to get a Programme - on so many occasions in life... That way, if only for legal reasons, you can attempt to reconstruct those happy lost hours...
