I am going to have to try hard to persuade the Other Half, which means it may be all drinks and no footie, but I'll do my best We're going out in London the night before, so at least we won't be millions of miles away in the morning. I'll give him a ring in a minute and see what he thinks.

On Friday AFC Telford played out a 0-0 draw against League 1 side Cheltenham Town and for much of the game were the better side, a bit more luck i nthe 1st half and Telford could hae won it.
The game however was overshadowed by an injury to Telford player Matty Lewis. The striker was running in the centre of the field and went down. Lewis was stretchered off the field and taken by ambulance to hospital. it has since been found that he has fractured both tibia and fibula and will be out for 12 weeks. Matty Lewis was last season's top socrer and despite a dip in form later on last season had been playing brilliantly this preseason and in this game had been my man of the match. We still have Terry Fearns, Lee Moore and Andy Brown but Rob Smith hopes to bring in another striker to cover for the injury.
Tommorrow Telford have a home tie with Nottingham Forest followed this Saturday by the long away trip to Havant & Waterlooville.

Got the day off from the coalface on Saturday and i'm off to a birthday party in Wood Green in North London in the evening so i'm well up for getting my money's worth on a travelcard and doing this too.
If the Salisbury guys know what time they change at Wimbledon/Clapham Junction on their way up i can aim for the same time from Brighton.
If any Tinpotting Wombles want to PM me their mobile to aid our gathering then we could have a fine crowd of footy fans.

Moors are having a pretty uninteresting pre-season so far: a 1-1 draw against Coventry City behind closed doors (at their request); a 0-1 defeat at home to Burton Albion and a 1-1 draw away to Stratford Town (ie Statford-upon-Avon, Shakespear country). We are away to Leamington on Saturday before hosting a Birmingham City side on the 30th. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

W1 D2 L3 Considering it's supposed to rain Saturday so there's no chance of turning the jungle back into a garden an afternoon in the smoke with beer and footy sounds quite appealing. What time are Salisbury passing through Basingstoke?

Could be a couple of you turning up then? Great.
Time is at a bit of a premium on Saturday as I have to take my daughter to Paddington in the morning, however I hope to be at the ground at about 2ish.
We apparently have real ale at KM BTW. Not sure what brands though - never really taken an interest. Cider drinker, me.

There is such a thing as real cider. But I doubt if you'd find any in a football club bar.

I generally arrive about 2pm and would be delighted to meet any fellow Tinpots!

Well i'm closing at work tonight so i will attempt to get up and meet the Salisbury boys and maybe even MiB at Clapham via the wonders of the Brighton Express and then onto Kingston/Norbiton and finally Kingsmeadow via the many pubs wherein we'll attempt to find the tinpotting wombles. It can't fail to work Should be a corker. I'll be the tall hairy thing supporting Salisbury without the dodgy accent

Telford went down to a 4-1 defeat against Championship newcomers Nottingham Forest. Andy Cole was expected to be in the Forest squad for the game but had to pull out due to taking a knock and so didn't come. Forest fielded a mix of first teamers and promising youngsters. The visitors took a 3-0 lead by half time and the difference in league was much more obvious than against Cheltenham (who we had more than matched) with the Nottingham squad showing a lot of pace and good finishing. Telford also had some chances including hitting the bar twice in the first half, one of which bounced down and landed on the goal line.
Forest made it 4-0 in the second half before Telford scored a late consolation goal, though probably the best goal of the game. New signing Martyn Naylor scoring on the half volley from outside the box.

Tommorrow Telford make the long journey down to Havant and Waterlooville. The Shropshire Senior Cup Quater final was won by newcomers Bridgnorth Town 1-0 at home to Shifnal Town. Telford will play Bridgnorth on Monday at the New Bucks Head. At the same time Shrewsbury will play Market drayton at the recently named Prostar Stadium. The final will take place on Thursday and is provisionally set for the Prostar Stadium.
