...for cutting me off for non-payment even though the bill had been paid.
I'd left it late to pay my bill due to having to juggle funds while looking for work. I'd received a termination threat but paid the bill 2 days before the final date BT had stated. 3 days later I was on t'net when my connection went.
I rang my ISP (on my mobile as my BT service was already restricted because of late payment) and was told my contract had been terminated because BT had told them that my contract had been stopped.
Numerous calls followed to BT until they eventually confessed to having made a mistake. In the meantime I'd received a termination bill for over 200 quid. They agreed to waive the extra charges. I should think so too! I was promised numerous times that my service would be reconnected but it repeatedly wasn't. It turned out that the section responsible for reconnecting me was refusing to do so because of outstanding call charges which I shouldn't have yet been billed for. These were eventually waived too and I got my phone line back.
The problems hadn't finished though as my ISP decided to start playing silly buggers in getting my broadband back up and running.
I was without any internet at home for over a month and had to make do with internet cafes and Wetherspoons' free wi-fi.
Apart from not being able to keep up properly with my various interests it had a bad effect on my jobhunting too.
