Salisbury 1 Welling 0Back to winning ways for the mighty Whites after our slip up at Sal's favourite place. Another experiment with friday nght football after we did the same thing the same weekend last year and got a decent crowd. Train Dave and Mrs TD had the day off so were early starters. I joined them in the Anchor & Hope for a couple, with Malx not far behind. Off to the Market to meet Pinky, sorted predictions then up to the ground. After a slow start the bar filled up to it's usual over-capacity First half was poor, Welling the better side to be honest, with us reverting to our hit and hope stuff. God knows why we do it, as soon as we play football we can pass any team off the pitch even at this level. Bar was ridiculously rammed at half time and had us making the now regular moans about service. Got our pint just as the bell went. and was still moaning about it and putting the world/football club to rights with Pinky and Gaz when we heard the cheers. Arse. 2 home games running, and I've missed the goal. Atmosphere was buzzing for the second half with various people discussing how Tubbsy's goal had been scored. A discussion I couldn't join in with. Much better 2nd half performance and in all honesty we should have won by more. But 5 wins and a draw from 7 games is more than I dreamed of. Off to the Wyndham afterwards for another now legendary friday night, with quite a few Whites in there. Week off now, as we look forward to our trip to Yeading.

We didn't. Well, we were at home but our dismal 1-0 up/3-1 down performance against the aforementioned Yeading was not one to be envied by anyone All I can say is thank christ I had to leave a few minutes early- I would have felt hypocritical had I stayed to applaud the players at the final whistle. Arse. 2 home games running, and I've missed the goal. Hah, I managed to see part of THREE different games yesterday, kicking off at 1, 3 and 5pm, and in those three matches I missed five goals and saw six Unfortunately, of the six I saw, three were scored by Yeading (two by England and one by Sutton!) I didn't see much of the first ten minutes of Sutton's game due to being engaged in dashing about the ground bullying people into joining the Supporters' Trust, but I made up for it by watching the last five or so minutes of Eastbourne Borough v Dorchester Town, confusing several Dorchester fans silly with my Sutton scarf ;D I didn't see either of the goals (it was 1-1) but I'm sure martello has plenty to moan about! I was watching the England game, but every time I left the room we scored

I was watching the England game, but every time I left the room we scored That is why you should never leave an international football game if you want to be able to talk about it after. That said because i myself missed the second half of the Wales game to go and bet on dogs with some havant & waterloovile fans and from what i have seen and heard since. I would've been more livid than a very livid thing if i'd seen the second half. Apparently the offside rule is yet to cross into Eastern Europe Or the one about free kicks having to be taken when the ball ISN'T moving. Ah well, Brazil v Wales on Tuesday and i shall be there!

Arrrr, but us countree toipes are easy-amused. I'm only goin up to the big smoke to take me auntee/mum/cousin to see them thar traffic lights, I 'ear you as. Once 'eard summin about there being gurt great "floyin' machines" near Yeading too. I may be born in a drain outside a pig-sty, near where the goblins wash each morning ,but I bain't soft in the 'ed. DaveT reckons there are a few off-beat Pubs to be taken in on the Journey. He'll post details later, I expect. No, agreed otherwise. I drove when we beat them 2 years ago, and the place is bleak and desolate in the extreme. I think they were promoted that season because of inhaling the Aviation Fuel coming out the low-flying planes overhead. Happily that most outrageous, environmentally disastrous habit of dumping fuel has now been outlawed, I gather. Nice people at the Ding, just not many of them.
