1) There's an expanse of ragged netting hanging over the very narrow path behind one goal. Anybody standing there who is over about five and a half foot is repeatedly nudged by the gently swaying fringe. I didn't notice that

Billingham Synthonia is a tinpot name That's the only tinpot thing about them to be fair mate, I regard Synthonia with roughly the same appeal as you regard Ashford Town. Drawing them midweek in the Durham Challenge Cup was the worst news a football fan could be faced with, not least because we practically were always knocked out by either Town or Synthonia. The town is also home to several chemical plants, not too far from the Corus steelworks and Hartlepools' Nuclear Power Station. I'd much rather hear planes overhead than be classified as radioactive. By the way Esaj, you claim Gateshead's bar has no windows but I can assure you it does have several! The Northern League is mostly poo also. Ashington used to be a real highlight before they left Portland Park, Dunston UTS is a hard place to get excited about next to a busy dual carriageway. The few real gems are among Crook Town (possibly the best ground I've been to, would love to see it filled like it was for the FA Vase match I went to), Horden Colliery Welfare, Esh Winning and South Shields because they've acted as Gateshead's stand in ground on more than one occasion. The rest can be sniffed at.

There was a nice letter about Billingham Synthonia in the latest When Saturday Comes. Their nickname is the Synners, and fans of their local rivals Billingham Town have a banner that reads "God loves the Town, but hates all Synners". ;D

A tad tardy; but I am with Sal - it's Tinpot and should be proud of it (Oh, and the Morny Stannit skit? yeah, could have helped there too - though glad someone else managed it first.)
Morning Standaaard!
Morny Stannit!
