Sadly, thanks to all this non-contract mullarkey going on at SRFC our Captain Wayne Daniel has joined other former Boro' stars Chris Smith and Marco Adaggio at Wusster. Seven years of brilliant service from the 32 y o Brummie binman comes to an end amid the continuing financial foul-up at Marston Road with all players out of contract and only non-contract deals now on the table for the new season. Along with top scorer David McNiven, Wayne took a 50% pay cut last Xmas to stay at SRFC and help us to avoid the dreaded drop. He follows Liam Murray (Solihull) and Tim Sandercombe (Mansfield Town) out of the door. Good Luck Wayne, i hope Daza looks after you well

By my calculations he's well into his 50s anyway and known more for his prowess with a little red ball, as opposed to a large muddy one. I can't see this being a major setback.

Never mind, poppet, that's what happens to chronoligically-gifted people such as ourselves To me, Manchester United are still a 2nd division team, Tamworth are still where they belong in the West Midlands League and Stafford Rangers are arguably the best team in non-league football The trouble is there are more people in the world than there are names so we're bound to get a few repeats. I couldn't get used to Andy Williams and Michael Jackson playing in the Southern League I well remember the Wayne Daniel of 1976 vintage, a 20yr old tearaway fast bowler dubbed "Wayne the Pain" by the tabloid press for the punishment he helped mete out to England's batsmen in the Tony Greig "grovel" series. The West Indies were struggling to find a decent spinner after the retirement of Lance Gibbs and started to go with a 4-man pace battery, Holder, Holding, Roberts and Daniel. Unfortunately for Wayne the Pain, he was displaced by the likes of Croft, Garner and Clarke. Second Division Manchester United. Sounds almost as good as "4th Division Wolves" ;D
