Here's another opportunity for assorted tinpotters to do some close season socialising. The Great British Beer Festival is on once again at Earls Court, London, during the first week in August. I shall be there as a customer on the Thursday (6th), and I hope a few others will make it then too. (I'll also be there on the Friday, but working behind the bar!) As well as (naturally) a huge range of beers from across Britain and indeed the world, the GBBF offers real ciders and perries plus a good choice of food. And there's live music every day (with the Oysterband playing on the Thursday). It opens at midday, so a day trip could be feasible for those living away from the capital. Go on, say you'll be there! You know you want to.

Although it's an expensive day out, I usually make the effort to go each year. I'm looking at Wednesday and/or Thursday this time. I need to book some tim eof work a.s.a.p.
My advice is arrive early, leave early - less people to contend with and more time to recover before the next day at work!
And close season? Only just! I believe the big KO is Aug 8th.

I'm looking at going Thursday but it'll be after work (due to a severe lack of time off available)

I already have a ticket for Thursday so will be there probably from 6ish, plenty of time to sample a few brews and spend more than 30 seconds with amberaleman this year!

aha, i just replied on the bobbins board about this. I was looking at rocking up about mid afternoon and seeing how far into the evening rush i could get before falling over.

It looks as if there may be limited overlap between the Sutton and Carshaltn contingents. Maybe no bad thing! ;D
I hope to be there from opening time until at least early evening. So I may catch some of the late shift.
Anyone else up for this?

Right, I've got my ticket for the Thursday. If any fellow Tinpotters would like to meet up during the day or evening, do leave a message here or drop me a PM.

I'm coming on the Thursday - possibly all day! I had arranged to do something else, but this has been rearranged. I am all yours, GBBF

Thursday booked off work. Guess I'll arrive about noon. Looked at buying an advance ticket online, but the saving of £2 wasn't much and I'd have to give at least £1 of that to the thieving ****s at the ticket agency. I'll pay on the day. In cash. I think I'll be hitting the American stuff a bit this year - it looks good.

Good stuff! Let's see how many of us manage to meet up on Thursday. ;D
My plan (as usual!) is to get through the doors as soon as posible after 12 noon and occupy a table towards the back of the hall. That will then be base camp for the day, from which members of the party can foray out periodically for beer, food, music etc.

I'm currently on the outskirts of Birmingham so with a good run i'll be there around 2:30pm-3:00pm
Hopefully amberaleman will nab an easy to find table but if not, look for the lanky bloke in the Dark Star hooded jumper!
