Scotland Yard insiders today talked of "fury" amongst top cops as an illegal Malaysian betting syndicate escaped the long arm of the law yesterday, hours before a dawn raid was due to take place
Police had been staking out the gang at a secret address in London as vast amounts of money had been changing hands as posters on the Tinpot Terrace website yo-yo'd betweeen the Ten-Pot Elite and Premier Division of the forum's fledgling poster' league.
Within minutes of the words "match-fixing" appearing on the board, the gang fled, wrong-footing the police and making good their escape. It is believed that this was a coded warning put out to tell the gang that they'd been rumbled.
Attention turned today to the self-styled "PRA" or so-called Portal Revolutionary Army, a shadowy anarchist group whose members sometimes appear on Tinpot Terrace, as the warning post came from someone purporting to be the group's founding father.
Investigations centred today on an unamed small town in the English Midlands with local police vowing that the culprit would be be apprehended even if it meant "razing the local football club to the ground".
