Last Saturday Sutton paid their first ever league visit to Aveley, newly promoted to the Ryman Premier Division. For those who (entirely forgivably!) don't know where this place is, it's a rather nondescript village in the south-west corner of Essex, a couple of miles outside Greater London. The Aveley Chairman was evidently proud that his humble stadium was being graced by our presence, and posted greetings on our fans' messageboard both before and after the game (which we won 1-0, thanks to a cracking own goal ;D). His post-match posting included the following: I hope you found Aveley hospitable and true to my words on Friday. I almost had to introduce myself to one of your female fans, a proper looker I may add and you did not have many of those, who seemed really excited by our tinpot ( she used those words ) ground. I almost offered to give her a guided tour of all parts of the ground ! Please give her my regards. No prizes for guessing the identity of said female fan! I won't dwell on the protocol of the Chairman's compliment (and the implied slight on our other female supporters), but draw your attention instead to how Sal subtly but effectively promulgated the non-pejorative use of the word 'tinpot'. This was a small but significant step in the dissemination of the concept of tinpoticity, and a shining example to us all. Well done Ambersalamander!

The Aveley Chairman: ...a proper looker I may add...He's right – she looks at everything! None of that blinkered vision or walking around with her eyes closed lark for Sal. Maybe Sutton's other female fans need to be a bit more observant?

I do not I did warn Mr Tinpot Chairman that my boyfriend said to watch out ;D This was mere politeness, however. What he actually said was: He's a big softy really.

Oh no, we might have to go to Aveley in the next round of the FA Cup! Hampton & Richmond Borough have now spared us that fate!

Surely now we should be referring to AmbassadorSal?? ;D
It is truly one of the joys of tinpoticity - the discovery of an as yet, unexplored ground. Well done Amber.
