West Midlands League Premier Division Brierley and Hagley 3-1 Wellington Attendance: I counted 38. Played at the superbly Tinpot Lye Town's ground which has one of the finest stands ever:  Good game of football though (for this level at least) and some comedy goalkeeping to keep us all amused. At one point all the match balls had been booted over the adjacent cricket pitch, there was a five minute hold-up until someone could be arsed to go and fetch them (it was raining!). |

Probably lucky there were just 38 there, too many fans....all the team would have to do is score and the cheering would quite literally bring the roof down. Gotta love it though!  |

Those floodlights look better than Burscough's, coops The floodlights are excellent, probably the best in the league (although that's not saying a lot really!). There's a campaign to have the stand listed as it's probably the last of it's type left standing, certainly I don't know of anything like it in The Midlands. If anyone wants to do a Tinpot tour in the Black Country then I would recommend Lye Town, there are at least two CAMRA listed pubs very close by (one of which, The Windsor Castle, has it's own brewery!), Lye is the Black Country equivalent of Birmingham's Balti Triangle, loads of good cheap curry houses, and it's easy to get to by train from Brum. *EDIT* The Windsor Castle Brewery and Inn: www.windsorcastlebrewery.com/wci/index.html |

Not a rational reaction, I know - but looking at the picture of Windsor Castle Inn, it looks terribly modern and shiny. Not at all like a brewery tap! Perhaps it's my age... I rather like this place. Vaguely beer related here. In the last week i have drank in the one pub various amounts of... Hophead. Crouch Vale Best. Moondance (an ISIHAC fav) Dark Star Choccy Stout. It's like the galacticos of the beer world there!  |
