Monday, November 27th 1978 was my first day in full-time employment at Inmont Limited of Well Lane, Wednesfield, as a trainee chemist in their Quality Control Lab. The wages were a princely £2492 per annum :oand this was actually good compared to other former schoolmates of mine who were working in Midland Bank for £1600 pa. ;D Struggling Labour Government, strikes, economic crisis, crap music. 31 years on and so much yet so little changes, eh?

Cheer up, Sultan. It's definitely an interesting anniversary, one that I would expect most people forget over the years. And since the French word for birthday is anniversaire...

Sigh.. (wind well and truly taken out of sails) I think i'm losing the will to live. Could one of our moddy types kindly just erase this topic please. I just thought it was extremely random. 31 years since you first started full time employment? Coincidentally my first days employment was 28 years later with Space Station's Warehouse on Team Valley, Gateshead as a Warehouse Operative working under contract for Next plc. If you're interested, you currently have paid approximately 26,406 pounds sterling in Class One National Insurance and have a surplus year of qualifying for your State Pension.

Random, but very interesting. I like little snippets like this. My first day of full-time employment wasn't until 1 December 2003
