Tinpottery this week comes in the form of a trip to see Continental Star Vs Pelsall Villa in the Walsall Senior Cup on Tuesday. Continental Star are a team formed by the West Indian community in the area, they have used several grounds in the area including the wonderful Red Lion ground in Bloxwich but are currently playing at Oldbury Leisure Centre, it's not the most picteuresque of grounds (see picture, that IS a slag heap in the background!) but should attract a crowd well below 20! On Wednesday I am going to see Bustleholme play Brierley and Hagley. Bustleholme play at Bilston Town's Queen Street ground, Tamworth fans may now shudder! The ground is only standard as far as Tinpottery goes but there is a wonderful pub nearby, that is not my car!

Whitehawk, if only because they have a white hawk carved into the chalk hillside overlooking their ground! I have been and I will dig out a photo of the white hawk sometime.

While we are on the subject, do i go for tinpottery at Whitehawk v East Preston or hilarity at Havant & W v Scummers on my free weekend? Decisions... Whitehawk v East Preston. Promises to be a cracking game between two sides who whenever I've seem them have played good football, in a cracking little ground (albeit in the middle of bleedin' nowhere!). Just don't make eye contact with the locals. They're 'ard y'know! ;D Sal and I were considering that game (as we both have the weekend off due to our teams general sh*teness on Saturday) but I'm now going to be at the Lane for a re-arranged Eastbourne v Thurrock Conference South clash.

No tinpottery for me on the 14th - I'm aiming to take in Northwich v Rushden (Northwich's new place being one of just two grounds I need in the Conference). Namesareforidiots might just make it too. (All this is assuming that Sutton don't hastily rearrange a game for that day. I can see them doing that just after I've ordered my train ticket! )

Result:
Continental Star 2 -0 Pelsall Villa
A group of four groundhopers (distinguishable by their new digital cameras and Tesco Bag for Life to keep sandwiches and programmes in) swelled the crowd to a creditable 13.
Highlight of the match was watching two foxes shagging near the long jump pit.

Tonight's tinpottery ay Queen Street, Bilston was bizarrely postponed due to the over running of a under-10's cup match between Bilston Town and Black Country Ravens. This match went to extra time and then penalties, as Bustleholme are only the tenants they were told that there was nothing they could do but wait. Eventually at half past eight, with no sign of the junior match ending, both Bustleholme and their opponents, Brierly & Hagley, sacked it a went to the pub!
Oh I do love non-league football!

Coops- you used to be a proper Tamworth fan didn't you? I'm not implying that you're now an improper one, but I would like to compliment you on your groundhopping prowess! A site like this really needs one of those Sal and I were considering that game (as we both have the weekend off due to our teams general sh*teness on Saturday) but I'm now going to be at the Lane for a re-arranged Eastbourne v Thurrock Conference South clash. Yeah- I feel like the luckiest person in the world now that I'll get to see Thurrock play two weekend running Not many people can say they've done that. That's because Thurrock don't have many fans. ;D

By the way, please don't lump me in with those Groundhopper people, I do not own a Tesco Bag For Life, I do not take pictures of the corner flags and if the programmes have sold out I do not require therapy!
