The FCUM result won me a tenner off a mate whom I'd bet on day one Durham would win a league game this season.
I'm dead chuffed for them, they're a tidy side with a great attitude, just too young, and naive.

And beat Whitby town. Just as well, cos I feckin HATE whitby town.
Durham City is the closest team to me geographically outside of the Northern League, it's a shame because I have a friend who used to be a Special Constable in Durham and he remembers the days where all the miners used to troop into the city on friday night and then awake bleary eyed on the saturday to head to watch City play, swelling the crowd to a respectable size. Now I doubt the Henry and Henriettas coming from Durham Uni, thinking football as of a conceptual pastiche of the North would do the same thing.
VIVA LA DURHAM!

Don't be so prejudiced. Me and a couple of uni mates have seen Durham play 4 times this season.
There are a lot of public school types at Durham, granted. We're not all like that though, and you can hardly blame the students for not going when the vast majority of people know next to nothing about football at that level and probably don't know the club exists. Even if they did, it's a bloody long walk!

I like Whitby's Sampdoria style shirt.
