New shop opened in Newark, Notts.
No web site but the phone number is 01636 918022
Bought a few bottles there last week, have an extensive stock of bottled beers, give 'em a ring if intersted.
One ale on sale had been imported from some monestary (not sure where from) and was in a plain brown bottle with no label on it, just a price...................................£19.50, but it was a whole 330ml ish. The propriator said there was only one other place it could be purchased in the uk and they charge £30.
It still stayed on the shelf. ;D

It's the most obscure of the six Trappist breweries (five in Belgium, one in the Netherlands) and the monks don't go in for anything as godless as marketing. But the beer is very good - and very strong!

It still stayed on the shelf. ;D For some totally inexplicable reason, this story triggered a random memory of a newspaper cartoon (i think it was about a cowboy, entitled A Man Called Horace) The main character and his sidekick were eying up a gateaux on a sweet trolley and asking the waitress " How much for a slice of that gattox?" The waitress replied " It's pronounced gatto and it's £4.50 a slice." to which Horace retorted "No thanks! What do you think we are? A pair of pillo?" ;D Maybe i should keep quiet next time.....
