Sal, quick question - route to Tonbridge? Thinking of going over to Limspfield and then down some B-Roads - what route did you take?
Is there anywhere to lock up my precious stead once there?

Hello, sir. I went that way towards Hastings, and would only recommend it if you a) have a VERY good bike, and b) are VERY fit. If so, it's a good route. I was working in Croydon the day I was there so went A232-A21 then into Sevenoaks and took b-roads to Tonbridge from there. If you contact the club in advance, they are extremely nice and helpful. They didn't really have anywhere to put my bike but they did let me chain it to the metal railing outside the cub shop.

Wish I'd seen this before the trip! I knew the drag up to Warlingham and through past Hamsey Green from Whitgift School would be a pig but it's the way I know and it's got to be easier than coming up through Purley (Mitchley Hill up to the old Firestation at Sanderstead?), missed my turning down Titsey Hill and went through Westerham and the A25. Just hadn't expected the amount of hill through the Weald - damn it its just clay, shouldn't it be level? Made it there alive (I meet the requirements for a but not b) in about 2.5/3 hours.

Ah. My bike doesn't do Titsey Hill - the surface is too rough for a hill that steep. Yes vicar, that route is extremely tough, as are all bike rides in that general direction. Folkestone for me this weekend - although I didn't find Ashford (Maidstone United) too difficult, and Folkestone is just the same + about 15 miles.
