A short chat yesterday with our favorite Womble brought up the above subject. Meadow stated that as AFC have now reached the Football League, she should no longer be associate with this and other Non-league forums! I disagree with the statement as I feel division two (four in old money) is more Tinpot than the Conference National as there appear to be more N/L teams in it than in the Conference. (-: Also don't forget AFC play at a NL ground, and the original Wimbledon FC were without doubt the most Tinpot team ever to play in the Football League!!

Haha! I also disagree (with Meadow, not you BH) and vote to retain her tinpot status for as long as she wishes ;D

It depends in what context Meadow spoke. If she was implying that now AFC have been elevated to the Football League she no longer wants to hang around with the riff-raff then that's one thing. However, if she still maintains love for and knowledge of the non-league game then there is no reason whatsoever she should pull out of this or any other non-league forum for that matter. I don't go on any other non-league forum apart from SRFC, but do Meadow's musings stem from some "purist" rockhead moaning and making her feel awkward about it? I would be more than happy to see Meadow descend her olympian heights to shed light into my workaday world :-*and i can't think of anyone on here who would think any differently!

Alternatively, i would be more than happy for Meadow to adopt Stafford Rangers as her non-league team. ;D With 2 pts from our first 6 games at level 3 in the pyramid, there is as close as possible as it can be a lifetime guarantee of tinpot status. In fact the only way she could lose tinpot status would be that we actually fall below tinpot status. Then again, after we lost 5-4 at Hednesford, a team that had not beaten us since World War 2, after being 3-0 ahead, we are probably below tinpot already

Goodness no bh, I'm as tinpot as they come, it's just my team that isn't any longer ;D on that basis I don't know whether I 'fit' now. Truth be told, I miss non-league already, and although I'd never abandon my team for another, you're likely to see me at GGL a bit more often as I can't afford to go to long distance away matches that much. I'm therefore adopting Sutton Utd as my non-league team. As I said on the Conny Sarf forum the other day, you can take the girl out of non-league, but you can't take non-league out of the girl.
