Yup it's that time of year again when the rumours abound and could there be hope that Tamworth, who have apparently finished in the relegation zone every year since joining the Conference could get yet another last minute reprieve? Boston have just entered into a CVA but apparently this does not satisfy the FA's requirement with respect to the club's football-related creditors and they may force a 2nd relegation onto them. In addition it is rumoured that Crawley's CVA has similarly failed to meet FA expectations and they may also be relegated. Surley it could not be that once again amidst a show of smoke and mirrors Tamworth re-emerge next year in the Blue s-q prem and Coop's Socks keep their un-demoted run going? ?

All very interesting...though, as Tamworth finished 22nd, they'd have to rely on both Boston and Crawley being thrown out of the Conference. Altrincham would be first in line to benefit.

Last season it was Alteringham who benefited from Canvey's demise, their points deduction stood therefore they finished below us and in the final relegation place, not Tamuff.
I know that cheeky little scamp The Sultan has his tongue in his cheek but I'd just like to point out that until this season Tamuff had NEVER finished in the Conference relegation zone, indeed this season is the first time in their 74 year existence that Tamworth have EVER been relegated (our tour of the West Midlands League in the '80's was a voluntary drop in an attempt to cut costs to prevent the club going bust. Which brings me neatly onto this rant first aired on the TFC forum:
I would not feel in the slightest bit guilty if Tamworth stay up due to other teams going bust, the Conference clubs are supposed to compete on a level playing field yet half the clubs are basically cheating by paying out money for players they blatantly cannot afford.
Take Creepy as a case in point, deducted ten points already this season for going into administration and yet they remain fully professional with a wage bill massively bigger than ours whilst losing money hand over fist, how is that fair on the few clubs living within their means and sticking to the Conferences supposed rule of only paying 60% of income on wages?
Ditto Weymouth, Halifax and if the rumours are right at least half a dozen others. It's wrong and when the club inevitably goes down the pan it's the fans who suffer and not the greedy, glory-hunting chairman.
Nope, if Tamworth are saved due to other clubs financial mismanagement there will be no tears shed in the Cooper household.
*EDITED* for shocking spelling!

Whew! Calm DOWN dear! Don't think I've been called a "cheeky little scamp" in over 40 years and certainly never by a man with 74yr-old socks! You're right though. The way that some of these clubs have been carrying on is not only cheating but crass stupidity, and as the late Jim Callaghan said with his Labour Government facing oblivion after the Winter of Discontent "The sky grows darker with the wings of chickens coming home to roost." It is, indeed, within the bounds of possibility that NONE of this year's bottom four will be relegated. One thing we are agreed on is that if Tamworth stay up due to other's financial mis-deeds biting them on their bums than the Sultan household will remain similarly dry-eyed.

Will it be the conference AGM before all these possibilities are sorted out. If so, when is that?
You make a more than valid point about teams gaining an unfair advantage through not cutting their cloth accordingly. If I were a creditor of such a club it would have to be one of the first questions asked. "Why are you still full time whilst other clubs are part time"?

I'll answer my own question.
League AGM is 5th June.

I can't confirm this but I have heard that Crawley will be in the conference next season. Yes they probably will, despite breaking just about every clause in their administration contract, I have no doubt they will spend another season getting into yet more debt whilst desperately striving to remain a professional club. Whatever.

I can't confirm this but I have heard that Crawley will be in the conference next season. According to the Conference board, they have to pay off the CVA by 11th May at the latest. According to the Crawley board, the deadline doesnt apply to them as they arent in administration. Now apparently, they have had the money to pay it off since October last year. They are now saying that they dont know how much they owe. If they end up getting kicked out, they will have to go down to Ryman Premier at a minimum.

I don't understand! If they got deducted 10 points for going into administration and have yet to pay off their creditors (even at the 10p in the pound or whatever) how can they not still be in administration. I know they did some clever jiggling with the board to claim they are a new company or something but it stinks.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm sick and tired of every season in virtually every league there are teams going into administration/CVA' or whatever. Then around judgment day start bending this rule, that rule, breaking others and leaving creditors in the lurch trying to get their money.
Teams not knowing are we relegated or not and league committees being forced to jump through all manner of hoops.
Enough is enough, IMHO, clubs should be made to live within their means. If you're assets (not including the chairmans wealth/good will) don't cover your debts as a very minimum requirement, you're out.
Draconian I know, but then at least we might get all clubs spending sensibly and operating in a fair and proper manner, 'cos at the moment Crawley, Boston, Leeds and probably Chelsea are taking the p**s out of every well run club in the land.
