But you haven't beaten us though. So from top to bottom: 1st Blyth Spartans/Sutton United 3rd Solihull Moors 4th Coventry City 5th Manchester United 6th Gateshead Ahem, we have a 100% record against the most succesful side in English Football. That makes us the best I believe.

Coventry's first teamers: Julian Gray Ellery Cairo Arjan de Zeeuw Robert Page David McNamee Michael Hughes Kevin Kyle Kevin Thornton now far be it for me to pi ss on anybody's chips but those are certainly not 8 first teamers. Michael Huges and Julian Gray could only be considered as first team regulars, and indeed they were the only two from that list to start today. Only Kevin Kyle was the other involved when he came on as a late sub. Being in the squad does not a first team player make. Well done for winning a local cup game against a league team, but there's no need to sensationalise it more than it is.

Sorry, Dave, but Coventry said they were playing eight first teamers and named them. They also had Grandison on the bench and he came on for the last half hour. If Cov say they're first teamers that's good enough for me, maybe some of them didn't play today because of the way they were outplayed on Tuesday night

A belated "Well Done!" to Solihull Moors. I hope my ex-colleague at BASF, Dave Jones, was there to enjoy the game! On the other side of the coin though, these County Cup matches can be a bit of a pain for the bigger club involved as the smaller club often try to bridge the gap by playing a more physical game. This week, we went out of the Staffs Senior, 3-2 at tiny Tamworth. The conference north strugglers outfouled their more illustrious neighbours by 5 to 1 in what was described as a "bad tempered" game in reports. So-called "dubious challenges" resulted in 2 Stafford players being hospitalized with head-wounds and a third being put out of the game for 5-6 weeks at least with the ankle injury he sustained. We're always on a loser with this kind of game: If we win it's expected, if the other team win it's a big deal for them because they've beaten Stafford Rangers. We could have done well without this game.

This week, we went out of the Staffs Senior, 3-2 at tiny Tamworth. We prefer the term "minnows", it has a more footballing cliche feel to it.

C'mon Coops, cut me a bit of slack here! My days of being able to switch on "Conference Arrogant" mode are drawing quickly to end. Given the financially and cerebrally depleted state of those running SRFC i may well be collecting my pension by the time the opportunity comes along again, so please let me enjoy it while i can. After all, i haven't got a pair of magic socks to wave in the air and cause others to go bankrupt/resign/break rules and save my team! Naaaah, minnows is far too cliched and implies that there may be something romantic about Tamworth (which there patently isn't!) "Tiny Tamworth" has both tongue-tripping aliteration and a pleasingly patronising ring to it! ;D
