A friend who is a policeman told me a while ago that "on average, at least one fire-arm is discharged in Greater Manchester every night."
It was rumoured that when Manchester City extended the old Maine Road ground, then manger Alan Ball insisted that a balcony should be built overlooking Moss Side so that he could show his forwards some accurate shooting!
