...is that England will play Portugal in the World Cup quarter final.
So far they have had to purchase Paraguay, Trinidad, Sweden and Ecuador shirts to wear while watching the world cup.
However, luckily for the scots after the Dutch defeat they should be able to save a bit of cash if they've kept their Portugal shirts from Euro 2004.

Just look at the quality of the sides England have struggled to get past to reach the quaters. If Ghana are to reach the next round they will have played:
U.S.A.,Czech Republic, Italy and Brazil, with Spain or France waiting in the wings.

I'll settle for for my old Swiss shirt, and have re-adopted the Swiss, until at least the end of this evening. My kids have Swiss nationality you see, and seeing that the clockmakers are generally seen as being neutral and all round good eggs, there is no reason not to support them against a bunch of pinko Soviet rejects... England Switzerland final anyone?? ;D

I'm seriously considering becoming a Scotland supporter. I can then sit back smugly, safe in the knowledge that my team will never qualify for another finals tournement meaning that never again will i have to suffer the agony of exiting at the quarter or semi-final stage on penalties just when i was starting to believe we actually had a chance of winning.

Be a Wales fan, then you won't even have to waste money supporting whoever England are playing against like you would if you were a Scotland fan

Wasn't it Rabbie Burns who, after watching a spider trying and failing to climb a thread to it's web several times, said "If at first ye don't succeed, try, try again." Seems like the Scots' natural state of being, to me

It was Robert the Bruce, the legend is that after he was forced to flee after his army had been defeated for the sixth time in a row by the English he saw old Spidey doing it's stuff and promply went and routed the English at Bannockburn despite being outnumbered something like ten to one.

And rather like 1966, they still talk about winning today

I think 1966 is understandable as many people still have the memories! (I never talk about it myself).
Don't you ever talk about Sutton beating Coventry?
I must admit that the 1966 thing is getting a bit tired after all these years if you were too young to remember it...
