Should be long enough to see poor old Emile fall over in front of goal and Owen sky the best chance since the last time he played for England Wales on the otherhand, Craig Bellamy and Freddy Eastwood v Miroslav Klose and Lukas Poldolski. Can't wait. Freddy has promised to pepper Calamity Jens with shots so we might nick something and if we don't, nobody cares. The joy of the underdog I love it when the bitter Welsh have egg on their faces ;D

ANYWAY. Everyone who wished me well for the interview (better late than never, Eastbourne ) did me good with their happy vibes Today I was provisionally offered the job, subject to references. Now I have the difficult task of telling my new manager, on my second day at the job, that I quit Serve them right for being based in Hackney. I've always thought that astrology was a load of claptrap and can't see myself ever changing my views, but I did have a chuckle on the way home today when I saw my horoscope in the London Paper. It said something like "It's not making the decision that will be difficult- it's telling the relevant people. It will be difficult to tell them, but you know that this decision will benefit you greatly and while it might inconvenience others, it won't kill them" How very apt

Apt? A tap-in, for you getting the job, more like! Good on yer, Girl! Glad it's worked out as you wished. Sure, it's a shame to let the current people down, but it's not like you're lifelong friends, and I don't suppose the subject will ever come up again. I suspect you're best off simply leaving that 'brief encounter' off your CV for good. Really chuffed for you!

Congratulations, it won't kill them, piss them off, maybe, but it won't kill them. My daughter has recently been offered several NHS jobs to start in a month or so and I've advised her to accept them all, than make the final decision which one she actually wants, not worry about letting anyone down but think of the joy that she will be spreading around the people that were turned down and will now be contacted to say that they have succeeeded after all!

Well, as they're all with the same organisation they probably won't be too peeved. I told my new boss today, on my second day, and walked out at about 12:30. Nice. He was very understanding actually, saying that he was a bit disappointed because I was absolutely excellent at interview ;D but that my choices have to come first. Rather sweet. Well, it was an interesting experience working there for a day and a half. I learned what it was like to be an ethnic minority. It was quite fun being the only white person in a staff team of 12

It isn't quite as simple as that, ojive. It has been many years since I was taught this, and the law may have changed in the interim, but if anyone officially accepts an offer of employment then changes their mind, he or she is liable to repay the costs of re-advertising the vacancy

I've never heard that one before. I don't suppose I will though, because I worked one and a half days for them for nothing!

In actual fact we suggested that she accepted the jobs but asked for a few days to contemplate accommodation and relocation implications. As each of the jobs had between seventy and a hundred applicants there were plenty of back up candidates to call on and the ones she turned down were very accommodating, some even saying that if she changed her mind they would be more than happy to employ her!

What's with the cryptic after the 58th smiley? Could this be a coded reference to the success of bringing down poor Colin McRae's helicopter in suspicious circumstances, perhaps? Doubt any repercussions will come of Sal's decision, to be honest though. They can't really go around punishing Staff within their own organisation. Wouldn't exactly help with general morale, inter-recruitment or staff re-location.
