This isn't random - it is designed (and now recycled from several other boards), but you can listen to it for free if you want.
thebleater.muxtape.com To save you a click, here's what's included:
01.
Porcupine Tree - "The Sky Moves Sideways (live acoustic)" from "We Lost the Skyline"
A Steven Wilson solo rendition of an early PT classic, recorded live at an American in-store performance.
02.
Jerry Gaskill - "All the Way Home" from "Come Somewhere"
A mainly acoustic track from the King's X drummer, featuring Ty Tabor on guitar. Includes a 'bong solo'.
03.
Amplifier - "Scarecrows" from "The Astronaut Dismantles HAL"
The hidden track on this EP - more acoustic guitar, so not typical of Amplifier's heavy effects-drenched sound.
04.
Kingston Wall - "With My Mind" from "Kingston Wall I"
Exploding the myth that no good music has ever come from Finland! Rock! A touch psychedelic with a big Zep influence.
05.
Mansun - "Serotonin" from "Six"
Underrated album from an underrated band - full of mad little gems like this. About as progressive as indie pop gets.
06.
TheSix67 - "Here (feat. Georgie Strange)" from some demo...
I know vocalist Georgie is from M*lt*n K*yn*s, but don't have a clue about TheSix67. Great for an unsigned 'local' band.
07.
Bark Psychosis - "A Street Scene" from "Hex"
I read somewhere that the term 'post rock' was originally coined by someone reviewing this album. Very mellow.
08.
IAMX - "S.H.E." from "The Alternative"
Ex-Sneaker Pimp Chris Corner provides a brief keyboard interlude - huge echos of the 80s here.
09.
Minus the Bear - "Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey Warehouse" from "Highly Refined Pirates"
Quirky American indie pop, but don't let that put you off. The layers of simple melodies are quite hypnotic - there's more going on than you think.
10.
Oceansize - "Commemorative 9/11 T-Shirt" from "Frames"
If you still haven't tried t'size, do it now. The shortest eight and a half minutes you'll ever hear.
11.
Steve Reich - "Electric Counterpoint, Part 3: Fast" from "Different Trains / Electric Counterpoint"
A little bit of classical music (not orchestral) and one of the most famous breaks in dance music history. (Does anyone rcognise it?)
12.
Steven Wilson - "The Unquiet Grave" from "Cover Version IV"
The only instrument used on this recording is Wilson's voice. Looptastic.
57 minutes and 29 seconds. Enjoy.
