For any ale-lovers who might be in the capital on Sat 24th: the Bricklayer's Arms in Putney - just voted SW London CAMRA's Pub of the Year - is hosting a festival of Yorkshire beers. We're promised 25 "ales from the dales". I'm told there may also be some traditional Yorkshire food available - pies, cheeses, that sort of thing. The choice of Yorkshire is not as tinpot as it might sound. The landlady Becky has family links with the white rose county. And (at the last count) there were some 65 breweries across the four Ridings - including Whalebone, Concertina, Goose Eye and Salamander! The pub is in Waterman Street, off the Lower Richmond Road, and close to the river and High Street. Nearest stations (just over 5 minutes on foot) are Putney (SW Trains) or Putney Bridge (District Line). I'm hoping to head over there after watching Sutton slay Hayes at the Lane.
