Sometimes it's fun to totally ignore context. Enjoy: [ Actually taken from the life history of the Bustard, which has FINALLY laid eggs on Salisbury Plain, for the first time since... er... well, since the Mayor of Salisbury ate the last indigenous surviving female.... www.greatbustard.com/press%2023%20Jul%2007.html ]

Malx, is the Bustard Inn still open? Near(ish) to Shrewton.
I used to love that place, in the middle of nowhere but always a good pint. I heard it had gone totally downhill and was probably going to shut.

I heard it had gone totally downhill and was probably going to shut. You're spot on with your memory there, Sir! ;D If you look at the bustard site www.greatbustard.com/sponsorship.html#Bustard-Hotel , you'll see that the Bustard Inn is one of the Sponsors of the project: Funnily enough, DaveT and I nearly went there on our way to Chippenham last week - we decided eventually to 'earn' our beer by making some distance first, so we ended up in a Pub Car Park with a moving dalek instead..... I believe it's under new management, and goes from strength to strength. It's situated very close to the Project, and hosts the Bustard Group meetings too. They serve 'Stonehenge Ales', brewed near Shrewton by this huge mad Dane with blue eyes, called Stig! I promise to try harder to get there at some point, and send you some pictures on here when I can. I know I'm a silly old bustard, but this is a cracker.... The biggest flippin' flying bird in the world (now, once again) lives a few miles north of us. It's the main feature of our City crest s208.photobucket.com/albums/bb59/Malxx/?action=view¤t=SCFCcrest.jpg (and predominant on our Players' shirts). It's been scoffed at mayoral banquets, and at the inauguration of every Salisbury MP for hundreds of years.... until recently. Indeed it was eaten when Salisbury practically invented The Rotten Borough . I know it's ungainly, fat and clumsy, and contrasts in almost totality with Sal's nifty, sharp, intelligent, lovely little squawky green parrakeets (see the Sutton crest s208.photobucket.com/albums/bb59/Malxx/?action=view¤t=suttonutd.jpg ), but I'm rather fond of our batty behemoth budgies here!
