It has been announced that Dean Holdsworth is returning to Hawkland. This please me, as I rather appreciate the talents of Mr H! 2 seasons ago, his goals (Like 33 of them) kept us in Connie Sarff. During pre-season last term he was head-hunted by Derby County, and spent a rather uneventful time at Pride Park as Assistant Manager. Folowing ye olde "Partingofthewaysbymutualconsent" scenario he then went and plied his trade at Muff - because they offered him a deal that any sensible ex-pro in his late 30's would have been daft to reject. You should be aware that - for reasons that remain clouded in history as far as I'm concerned - Muff & Hawks are mutually exclusive species. This makes Mr Deano a Judas, and one to be reviled. Apparently. WTF do we do when he scores??? I ask for two reasons. Has anyone else experienced the return of a prodigal with blotted copybook, so to speak, OR Are these petty rivalries worth nowt when all is said & done.....

Happens occasionally down our way, i just like to think they've seen the light and look forward to the obligatory goal against their old side.

We had the same thing last season when Paul Sales rejoined us. When he left us there was a feeling of 'deserting the sinking ship'. He didn't leave on very good terms at all, though that was a completely different regime (the one that saw us moments away from folding). There were mixed feelings when he signed from Beastleigh last summer - many thought he'd take the money and hardly be fit but he made a lot of people (me included) eat their words.
When they're wearing your shirt, they're your player, simple as that. Quite like the fact that a lot of the Eastleigh lot think it was a mistake letting him go (it's that revolving door in the dressing room that does it) and would like it even more if he scores the winner at Ten Acres/Sparshatts/The Silverlake.

I always think it's a mistake to bring either a manager or player back to your club. It never seems to work (at least for a certain club in the East Midlands). Peter Morris was a demi-god in his first managership of KTFC but sadly showed he hadn't moved with the times in his second go despite getting us to the FA Trophy final. We had a *forward* a few years ago who couldn't even score against Carsh*ton. We dropped him. Gazza brought him back based on his opinion having seen one 7-a- side game. The fans gave him bad times for that. Kevin Wilson (sorry, Hucknall fans) was a total tosser in his second spell at Rocky Rd. Within 39 days he went from being someone who took us to the play-offs to someone with no idea at all. Players played out of position, give the fans neck braces before they got injured from watching hoofball.
It just don't work
