The current manager Rob Smith uses the ground and the attendances to bring players in, doesn't always work. it depends on the players priorities. Big crowds equal more coverage so if they want to progress higher it puts them in a shop window a bit more. Some players do drop a league or two (ie: Lee Moore, Steve Palmer), sometimes for the atmosphere a big crowd brings, Moore came for first-team football whereas Palmer came because he spent a lot of years at the old club and had loved it here before. Obviously some players do take the money (ie: Gary Hay was offered more money by Bromsgrove and left). It comes down to priorities really, some are after money, others to play as high as they can, others want to progress, some want the atmosphere. This means we're an attractive offer to some players but not so much to others. What was worrying was when the old manager couldn't get people to come to the club, he said he was speaking to a player and the very next day that player announced his retirement.

Fair enough. Reasons to drop down the Pyramid: - Geography - you live nearer the new Club. - Geography - Your wife/family live near the new Club, or work takes you that way. - You sense your old Club is waining, your new one is on the way up. - You like winning, no matter what. - You are a League player towrads the end of your footballing life, and need to find a career, so part-time football suits you better. - You used to play for the 'new' Club, and in your later years you wish to return. - You instinctively KNOW your powers are on the wain, and want a more suitable place in which to conduct your craft. - You want to play for/with your old Manager/Team-Mates. - You have a hankering for pastures new, or to work with a certain Manager etc... - You want to play in front of (Giggy's) bigger crowd. - Some must seek out, say, big Cup games. - Some like better ground facilities. (Some older grounds have great facilities/eccentricities. Our boys seem to like our Gym, Jacuzzi and Sauna, apparently! - MAYBE, just maybe, some players like to get the chance to interact with the fans once more, which is something lost at the top end of the Non-League pyramid and beyond... I've scraped my target of 12 reasons, if not all good ones. Maybe someone can help out with a few more?
