Apart from one exception everyone seems a bit shy this week so I'll kick it off for once.. After the iniitial euphoria had worn off from our play-off win last season it was bit like the scene in Bridge Over The River Kwai where the British are initially ecstatic over blowing the bridge then stop to think "God what have we done?!" As one of the few part-time teams in Conference Arrogant and with those already there looking down their noses at us, calling us "tinpot" and one prediction site tipping us to get a season total of just 12 pts, i thought we could have been in for a torrid time. Well, who would have thought it! Unbeaten in four, 10pts already and in a play-off place. I'm sure it can't last (and it won't)Dark clouds are gathering on the horizon, like a 3-game-in-6-days spell with the likes of Aldershot and York to be faced and we could yet lose yesterdays 3pts if Creepy go under but so far it's good to be back!!

Frickley Athletic 0-1 AFC Telford UnitedUnlike Monday's long report from me I'll try and keep this short and sweet. We travelled away to Frickley knowing they are the only team to ever do a league double over the new club (1-0 at their place, both teams played badly, 3-1 at New Bucks Head after a one goal lead went horribly wrong with our keeper breaking his ankle.) The first half chances were few and far between for both teams, they my have had slightly more possession but we had the edge on good footballing. We had one or two good chances while they had none, both defences coped very well. Came back onto the field for the second half, still goal-less and this half we seemed to have a new lease of life. We cam forward well with several good chances. Dean Craven missed a sitter but made up for it with some good runs. We scored on 68 minutes when half time substitute Steve Palmer took a corner. Centre-back Jimmy Turner stood unmarked at the back post to head the ball home. 1-0 to the Bucks as Dancing Jimmy did his trade-mark celebraion dance. It was prettymuch one way traffic from this point, we did all the attacking and the 1-0 did flatter them in terms of chances. Both strikers Hay and Foster missed some good chances as did Midfielder Csrl Rodgers. Our defence stood solid throughout with Richard Teesdale having a very solid game. Frickley showed grit but little creativity in going forward with all attacks being mopped up by the defence. Not sure but I don't think Stuart brock had a single save to make all game. Wing-backs Lee Vaughan and Richard Beale kept bringing forward strong attacks from the wings. The game finished after what seemed like 10 minutes of injury time in which to our surprise their mouthy number 2 shouted a torrent of abuse at our fans, he was quick to leave the pitch at the end though. Final Score FAFC 0-1 AFCTU My MotM: 2) Lee vaughan, coped well in all defensive duties on the wing, came forward to attack very effectively. I know I said short and sweet this time but I can't help but ramble on about football matches. Besides, it's shorter than Monday's!

Salisbury 1 Sutton 0Hey, I'm enjoying this Conference South lark. Game was hardly a classic. First half I didn't think there was that much between the two teams. Thought Sutton looked pretty good gong forward without threatening to score while we had a few chances but wasted them. Only goal of the game came a couple of minutes into the 2nd half. I, along with quite a few Whites and Ambers missed it, due to still being in the bar necking a half time Summer Lightning. We really should have scored a few more in the 2nd half, but with the score only 1-0 spent a worrying last few minutes convinced that Sutton would snatch one. Though as the Sutton lads said in the bar afterwards when I mentioned this "Where the hell we were going to get a goal from?" Still, the game pales into insignificance next to a great days socialising. Have long felt we'd get along well with Sutton and so it proved. Our pre-match local the Anchor & Hope did it's best lunchtime trade in some while following a mini invasion of amber & chocolate shirted lads and lasses. After a good time swapping stories taxis were sorted to the ground for everyone and so the drinking continued in our bar where it was a pleasure to meet the adorable Sal for the first time. After the game it was on to the original home of the HopBack brewery, the Wyndham Arms for a few of us plus the Sutton train crew, then into the Market Square for a pleasant couple sat outside the Market Inn, before the Ambers headed off to weave their way up to the station. Our night carried on, just getting slowly messier (literally so in Pinky's case ;D ). Great day and seriously looking forward to our visit to Suttonin April for the 2nd leg of the Conference South Team Drinking Challenge Cup. Off to Histon (by car ) tomorrow for a top of the table clash (didn't expect to be saying that a couple of weeks ago).

Moor Green 0 Leigh RMI 0
How many elbows in the face does it take for a referee to see one? As many as you like. The only action of note in this dreary, dreary 0-0 draw was our captain, Lee Collins, being carried off after having his nose splayed across his face and the referee waving play on!!!! I counted more than a dozen elbows but the ref saw none of them. The only booking was for mouthing. What a joke, if it wasn't so f u c k i n g dangerous. According to the programme the referee was Mr. A.M. Newbold of Loughborough, possibly the most ineffective referee I've ever seen. He spent most of the match with a big smile on his face and the terms 'arse' and 'elbow' (sic) spring to mind.

You are lying. Something is seriously amiss! Your fabrication of real life-events and facts will never again hold sway within the Non-League Community. Certainly, there is no doubt that the SUFC band were the merriest bunch of humans we've ever encountered - bar none, except that marauding troupe of supermodels on ecstacy in the legendary (and aptly-named) "Joy-fiasco" of 2003 [No charges were sustained by the CPS, by the way.... ], - and our new friends are also the most knowledgable and brightest bunch we've met in a while too, BUT, Dave, you had a pint of Hopback's GFB at Half Time, (not Summer Lightning), so I shall never again believe another word you utter as long as I live! And don't expect a Christmas Card this year!!

Brilliant. Though sadly young amber was otherwise engaged in getting back to London when the Salisbury and Sutton crowd piled in Top stuff.

Ryton 1-1 Spennymoor
Another 1-1 draw in 4 games was the result as Spennymoor failed to make countless chances count. Rytons goal came with real controversy when Ryton's striker slotted home beyond Escritt when he was clearly at least 3 yards offside when the ball was originally played to him. In thje second half Spennymoor looked more solid and much the better team, Woodhouse and Dobell put over the bar from 6 yards out but, Spennymoor got their deserved goal when Clough curled a shot into the bottom right corner, much the relief of the vocal away support. Spennymoor then looked like completing the win but, Woodhouse headed at the keeper and late in the game Dobell chested the ball which the keeper comfortably saved to this left. Just before the final whistle Dobell was dismissed after he challenged for a 50-50 ball which the referee judged to be his second yellow card.

Bit late but...... Gainsborough Trinity 1 - 3 Worcester City
We've had another game since then so I've forgotten what happened...... We were 1-0 down, The City defenders would have been 'told off' shall we say, by the away support had the defending leading up to the first goal not been of such comical value. 3 City defender stood holding hands it seemed, as a cross came in allowing Torut to dance around Danny McDonnell and score the opener. Yes, crap defending, but no more than the hosts deserved as they went in at half time the better team. City started the second half slightly better but Gainsborough could still have had more when a header and a free kick both went just wide, withthe majority of the crowd thinking they were in. The City comeback was started by Jai Stanley as he headed City level, Danks connected with stanleys cross for the second and retunrned the favour 4 minutes from time when he and Craig Wilding opened up the defence allowing Jai Stanly to slot his second goal past the 'keeper. The City fans sang a tribute to my sister and her boyfriend midway through the second half..... "Is she really going out with him?"

Did someone just call me...adorable...? Spelling's not Dave's very strongest of suits on those days when there's a New Moon. Sometimes he mixes up his letters d and b, and substitutes the letter r when he means to type "min".
