Class told in the end in this game, when Sutton pushed forward they scored the second came from a dodgy dive and Penalty, but no sour grapes the best team won on the day. by the look of it we were talking to a very cheeky Ambersalamander last night, Thanks for the invite to this forum.

Yep, no complaints about the result. Think we surprised them by going at them early on, but once they got the ball down and passed it around you could see why they are two leagues above! Second half was quite even, and I think on balance we tested their keeper more than they did ours. Scriven certainly pulled off a few decent saves - if we'd got a goal it could well have been out way back into the match. Coops says he caught Jerson (??) for the penalty, but the way he went down was a little theatrical, no? Fair play to the Sutton mob for turning up in decent numbers at such a tinpot (hehehe, geddit?) ground. One day City might be able to leave that horrible place and find a proper ground in the borough - until that day we will just have to make do! ps. Fan Focus has far more banter on it

Very polite fans the Sutton mob. didn't pick on us for being a big town with no fans and a sh!t ground.

Maybe that's the problem!
Ramsgate came and got all 'bigger club' on us and lost 3-1. Next time, we'll have to make to make sure we get drawn against a more arrogant team!

Hey guys! Welcome to the little terrace! Now all I have to do is figure out which of the four or so Guildford fans I spoke to you are. The baked beans guy? The Baggie Hat? The one who looks like a student? ;D Your ground is weird. I like being able to watch the action from above: it makes a change. I hope nobody ever throws up into someone else's hot dog as we were standing right above the tea bar. I did like the bottles of T.E.A you were selling from a little table in the clubhouse - that's tinpot. I think your assessment of the game is fair enough - I thought we bossed the first half but sat back a little in the second. I also thought the penalty shout was fair enough but do agree he went down a little theatrically! Thanks for being so welcoming

Welcome to the Guildford Two I've always found the Sutton fans very friendly, which is more than I can say about Ramsgutter. Did our Sal buy a mug BTW? She's gonna have to build another kitchen cupboard at some point, just to accommodate her souvenir collection. ;D

Evenin' all... in terms of who we are... Sirlagerlot is almost certainly 'baked bean guy'! I probably look like a student, but I doubt if I'm who you're thinking of. As I remember, I was stood next to 'baked bean guy' when you gave him the address of this forum?
If you're after mugs, there's plenty of them down at the Spectrum. Unfortunately they all have two arms/two legs etc. (heard it all before, etc etc)
We'd all agree that the view from the high stand is pretty good - and I think any future ground we may be able to build (ha, yeah right) would be similar to Horley... but with some sort of balcony to give that raised view of the pitch.

Who let the Guildford loons out again? I've told you all about keeping the barn door shut when leaving Surrey That stand of yours is truly different. But all in all one of the better 'oh god not a running track' grounds I've visited. Do you still do your announcements from a bloke with a radio mike wandering around the place?

"Truly different" would be a pretty good slogan for us to adopt actually. In fact, it would be pretty accurate if I adopted it myself to be honest.
And yes, Mr Baggie-hat still wanders around the place doing his secretarial stuff and making over-enthusiastic announcements (when he remembers).
Amen, Vicar

Regan is the cleaver one, Andy The baggie hat is Mr Masters, the fella with the wandering mike. To the right of him is Matt Brown, he sponsors the Matt Brown Creosote Trophy, to the left of him is young Chris Lucus. What the other one is called I don't know but he's a good bloke. Down below is Eddie and moaning Tone, over there is terry. And I am Sirlagerlot beside Regan. gottit...

I was disappointed not to find any mugs of the tea-bearing variety, but this was more than compensated for by meeting all both these lovely gentlemen ;D I want you to get Mr Baggies hat on this forum please. He amused me.

For the benefit of those Tinpotters based outside Surrey...this was a match in the Surrey Senior Cup. The Spectrum (crazy name!) was a new ground for most Sutton fans. Guildford play in the Premier Division of the Combined Counties League. The original Guildford City FC (once a strong Southern League outfit) sadly folded in 1974, and the current club was formed in 1996. We liked Guildford's 'twinning' arrangements with Gillford Park of the Northern League and (get this!) Havnar Boltfelag of the Faroese Premier Division. Wonderfully tinpot!
