01. Rainbow Bright – "The Rollah " 02. Fischerspooner – "Just Let Go" 03. The Orb – "Little Fluffy Clouds" 04. Boards of Canada – "Wildlife Analysis" 05. Autechre – "IO" 06. The Koolaid Electric Company – "Alright" 07. Pink Floyd – "Astronomy Domine" 08. March of the Union – "Cult Stickers" 09. Demians – "Sapphire" 10. Clutch – "Pure Rock Fury" Hmm - all went a bit electronic there for a moment. Attention South London bods. All being well, I'm planning to hit a show down your way on Wednesday (24th). Mister Mañana are playing at The Grosvenor in Stockwell – apparently it's free! I saw Mister Mañana in Tamworth a few weeks back and they impressed me enough to splash some cash on a demo and seek out a London gig. They're melodic grunge-rock – think Alice in Chains, if you know who they are, otherwise it's like Soundgarden's riffs with Kurt Cobain's vocals doing Pearl Jam songs. Three guitarists, so there's some cool contrasts between balls out wall of noise guitar and gentle ambient passages. Apparently the venue serves real ale, so Fullers of Youngs then, but better than most venues at a guess. The Priory Arms is just down the road too if a livener is required. www.myspace.com/mrmananawww.last.fm/music/Mister+Mañana/www.myspace.com/thegrosvenorsw9The other bands playing should be Slummin' Angels, Miscondücters and Open Mind, but I'm not tht bothered about this lot – see how bad they are. Eee. Thought you'd seen and been too skint. I on the other hand hadn't seen but got a text so went and it was rather good.
The boys from Carlisle, MrManana, only got two songs out of us as we foolishly assumed the timekeeping would be lax and we had another beer in the pub down the road but we compensated with a nice chinwag with them and they were most surprised that some nutter had seen them twice in a week...
The last band on Slummin Angels were pleasant to chat to and pretty good too and my opinion was in no way related to the fact i fancied their bass player, they actually were genuinely decent. Bravo.
Certainly more fun than a night at home.

Well darn me if that isn't tonight and I hadn't seen! I did send you a text. Maybe not to the right number though... The last band on Slummin Angels were pleasant to chat to and pretty good too and my opinion was in no way related to the fact i fancied their bass player, they actually were genuinely decent. Bravo. No chance, youth! The Downton beers in The Priory Arms weren't that great and I'd rather have seen all of Mister Mañana with hindsight. The venue did have real ale – a predictable London Pride plus Spitfire as a guest. I got the feeling that we were the only two people there that weren't playing or friends and family of one of the bands. Open Mind were terrible, Miscondüctor were OK and Slummin Angels were pretty slick. I've got no idea how pubs / venues / bands survive with so little promotion. By the end of the night there were probably 20 people at best in the room. I know it's south of the river and all that, but if the headline band can't drag a dozen 'fans' over from East London for a free gig, I can't see them being offered many shows outside London. It's a shame, as they have potential. Nightmare journey home. Armed police on the line near Rugby was the excuse for an initial hour delay, then the signals buggered up near Bletchley. Finally got in about 2:30 a.m. Anyway... randomness! 01. Ohm – "DaVinci" 02. Type O Negative – "I Don't Wanna Be Me" 03. Mostly Mouth – "Getting Away" 04. King's X – "A Box" 05. Autechre – "Flo3" 06. Sneaker Pimps – "Superstition (live)" 07. Chemikill – "f**k poo Up" - a bet the filter messes this one up! 08. The Devin Townsend Band – "Sunshine and Happiness" 09. Ozric Tentacles – "Feng Shui" 10. BMX Bandits – "Serious Drugs"
