Gin doesn't go with anything other than well chilled tonic & lemon. It's important that you remember this. ! Outrageous! If you can get hold of some ginseng roots, and infuse them, you'll find that the end result (with ice) goes bizarrely, but delightfully, with gin. Remember Aqua Libra? Melony fruit drink in the 80s? That used to work with gin. Gin & grapefruit juice (and a touch of tonic for the fizz). Gin and Martini - the 'proper' Martini, even if 007 preferred potato juice with his. Gin can really cheer up your jug of Pimms if you've gone and made the schoolboy error of using too much lemonade. Oh God, I need a drink..............................

I shall make you a nice cup of my drinky! I'm not in the mood for saying nice things. I'm in the mood for bricking myself and living on the floor of a computer lab for a fortnight Anyway, Coops likes it and his opinion actually matters Sorry Bottage, my post was meant to have smilies on the end and somehow they fell off when I posted I have put them back now.

All this talk of heating things up and stirring things in sounds far too complicated. I prefer to go straight to the alcohol!

Gin is also nice with Bitter Lemon ;D
Also liking Black Grouse at the moment. A stout brewed by the Leek Brewing Company. Mmmmmmmm chocolatey. ;D In fact I want one right now but I'm at work. Curses!

Lime is a good partnerfor gin, too, freshly squeezed with a dash of tonic, again for the fizziness .

OK folks- and I dedicate this to Daza. Amber Salamander's new invention. (...this is a good point actually: why do we say "new invention"? How on earth could an invention NOT be new? Oh well, I've typed it now) I have had a hard day at the orifice, chaps. A VERY hard day. One of those eight-hours-plus-at-work-without-a-minute's-break days where you're expected to do everything because you're the most senior person there days that leaves you completely and utterly drained. I won't go into too many details, but it was EXHAUSTING and I felt under pressure all day. Then it took me ages to get out because everyone wanted to ask me ONE MORE THING each, and then I went to the station and missed my half-hourly train by 2 and a half seconds. Then I had a 20 minute walk from the station with a heavy bag. So. The first thing I did when I got home was this: I invented a new drink called "Hard Day at the Office" It is basically hot chocolate with a kick, and it is SO DAMN GORGEOUS I thought I'd share it with you people, 'cos you're all so nice and I love you. It comprises the following ingredients: One almost-full-mug of milk 2 teaspoons cocoa powder Sugar to taste (I used about one and a half teaspoons) Dash vanilla flavouring Dash almond extract Pinch of grated nutmeg SQUIRTY CREAM ;D And as much vodka as you dare. Wot you do is: you heat up the milk in a nice saucepan. Meanwhile, put the sugar and cocoa powder in yer mug and while stirring, VERY GRADUALLY add just enough milk to form a stiff paste. Add the nutmeg and stir in (mix well, or it'll just sink to the bottom). Mix in the vanilla and almond flavourings and add the milk when it's hot. Stir well, top up with lots of vodka and squirt a huge mountain of cream on top- YAY!!! And drink. Think I might go and make another! ;D I will do some of that when I'm back at Uni!!!

To get back to the original subject....I feel compelled to report that I had my FIRST EVER freddo bar on Welling station at about 10.45 on Saturday evening. This was entirely a result of my own incompetence. Medibot and I alighted from a bus in good time for our train, and, despite being within sight of the station, I led us in completely the wrong direction. (OK, we'd had a few!) Result: we missed the train by about 5 minutes and had a 25 minute wait for the next one. To kill some time, I patronised a nearby convenience store, and there on the counter were...freddo bars.
