If the beer festival is back on, I expect I'll be there with a few more from Tamuff. (There were around 20 Tamworthians kicking about last year, although not all go to the football.) Any overnight stay would probably be in Peterborough for the better pub selection.
Of course, this does depend on it not clashing with anything else. There is the possibility of early friendlies that weekend and I've not checked for any gigs/tours beyond the end of May.
P.S. Did my annual North East trip last week. Went to Sunderland, Felling and Newcastle, but couldn't arrange to meet 'the boy' or see any football due to beer consumption/gigs.

Is there enough holiday time in the year I ask myself?? Away in May, June and - though but a weekend - Stamford... Totally awesome, dude - have I got the hours and spends to make it worthwhile. And juat what will my (then) wife make of you lot? The ones she has yet to meet I mean. She's confused enough as it is, but chuck a few more in and... If you've never tried Riverside - ISIHAC says please do so. Stamford is glorious, the festival setting sublime and the beer, well. It's beer and there's lots of it. Get yerselves there. Go on - you'll not regret it.

I shouldn't think the friendlies would start that early. Some did start very early last year (we originally had one scheduled for the 9th) but the first saturday of the month was the 1st, that's why they were so early. They tend to start on the second Saturday (fingers crossed)

What sort of prices are we talking about for accomodation, travel etc?

For travel, it depends whether you can get a lift or not ;D because I simply don't have the money otherwise. Someone has said provisionally that he might be driving (and I don't want to say who in case he changes his mind) and may be willing to offer you a lift too.
As for accommodation it depends on where you stay. We tend to grab ourselves some guesthouses in the region of £30 per night.
I'm at uni now, but when I get home tonight I'll have a look at local accommodation and see what's up for grabs.

try a gander at these - the same site has a list of decent drinkeries too - and there's several! [ftp]http://www.stamford.co.uk/accommodation/bandbs.shtml[/ftp]

Dolphin Guest House rings a bell- didn't we stay there last year?
Some of those look really good, and cheap too. Let's face it, I for one won't care after the day's drinking what it's like as long as it's got a bed!

If there's been any hard drinking then we gentlemen of, ahem, a certain age will require toilet facilities no more than a ten second midnight stumble from the bed. ;D

Can somebody without history of f**k**g up tinpot tours assume that myself and Hannah are coming when arranging accommodation? Suitable beer money available for yer troubles if you save me the risk of f*cking up bookings

Yes, we did stay at the Dolphin last year.
As it's now traditional I'll be there and as is a normal part of the tradition I'm guessing I'll need to drive via Sutton...?

Only 30 bands this year, only one of which (a local band that won a competition) has been announced so far. More depressingly, the beer festival is only going to have 20 real ales.

The Salisbury contingent (probably only 3) are in conference (no, not the BS Prem) this evening to discuss the Festival. (i.e. in the Pub.)
Chances are we'll try to do a 1 day in-and-out trip - DaveT's done Stamford for games before - so we'll treat it like any other Saturday: tins on the train at 0830 and then onwards in much the same way.... (Do I use brackets too often, btw?)(Does it become a little trying after a while?) Can't recall why we need to hurry. Will check. I suspect DaveT has radishes to harry on the Sunday, or something.
