Having read some of last years's thread, I see that members were supposed to supply a bit of info about their chosen club, so here goes:- Croydon FC Formed in 1953 under the name Croydon Amateurs. Nickname The Trams - presumably because the Croydon tramlink runs close by. Ground - Croydon arena, which is actually in South Norwood, not far from Sh*thurst Park (knew I could get a Wimbledon link in somehow ) I was going to post a picture of the ground but I can't find the website I was looking at the other day They currently play in the Kent League but were in the Isthmian as recently as 2006. Their highest league position was 4th in the Isthmian Premier in 1985-86.

Nickname The Trams - presumably because the Croydon tramlink runs close by. I remember going to see Croydon FC play Millwall in the FA Cup at Selhurst Park back in the 80's. Pretty good croud saw Millwall win 2-1. Probably Croydons biggest day out. Not sure they can replicate that cup run Ground - Croydon arena, which is actually in South Norwood, not far from Sh*thurst Park (knew I could get a Wimbledon link in somehow ) I was going to post a picture of the ground but I can't find the website I was looking at the other day They currently play in the Kent League but were in the Isthmian as recently as 2006. I have been doing some homework on my nice shiny new team. My words, plus some lifted from the club website. Wellingborough Town are known as the doughboys, after a traditional local dish of Hock & Dough (or a pig in a blanket as far as I am concerned ) there's a nice pub called the 'Ock & dough on the edge of town actually, which claims to serve a version of this. The doughboys can boast snooker legend Peter Ebdon as their president. Oh yes. I know he's a local lad, because every time we walk past it, my darling wife says "That's where Peter Ebdon Lived before he bu**ered off to live in the far east" but had no idea of any link to the footy club. There's evidence of a fanatical fan base too - travelling mascot and Fan-Cam for example. Home kit yellow shirts blue shorts; so my Hawks away shirt will blend in nicely! The first team play in the United Counties Premier, and home is the rather promisingly named Dog & Duck - thanks to a pub of the same name adjacent to the ground - a Beefeater, so should hold decent beer and food! And clock this: The original club was formed in 1867 and is the sixth oldest football club in the country.
The club was a founder member of the first professional football club in the country.
Wellingborough Town are also the oldest club in the County of Northamptonshire. So a proud history too. FA Cup?? Wellingborough Town has figured prominently in the annals of the F.A.Cup and many exciting encounters have been recorded against old opponents such as Peterborough United, Kettering Town, Corby Town and Cambridge City. The pinnacle of their Cup success was when they reached the First Round proper in 1965 being drawn against Aldershot, who at that time were in the Football League Third Division. Despite losing 2-1 Wellingborough were not disgraced.Treat yourselves; have a gander... www.wellingboroughtownfc.co.uk/index.html

Hamworthy United Got to know of this side when we played them last season. Great little ground very friendly supporters and a lovely lawn on which you can relax and get stuck into sum bevies. Any way a little bit about them.. Courtesy of the net A Team was formed in the 1890’s called Hamworthy St Michael’s, winning their first trophy the Whitehead Minor Cup in the 1899-1900 Season. Hamworthy Football Club was formed in 1926, and moved to the present ground The County Ground (formally known as the Nursery) in 1950. Hamworthy Football Club amalgamated with Trinidad Old Boys at the start of the 1971-72 season to form Hamworthy United Football Club as it is known today. Hamworthy United have had great success at all levels over the years in various competitions, and hold the record of having been the only team to have played in every season of the Dorset Combination League from its formation until it finished to become the Dorset Premier League at the end of the 2001-2002 season. After winning the league two years running they were promoted in the 2004-2005 Season to Wessex League Division 1, winning the Wessex League Cup in their first season. They were runners up in the Dorset Senior Cup in 2004-2005, but went one better in 2005-2006 beating Poole Town in the final.
