Can anyone find a more Tinpot team than Northend Thistle from the Isle of Arran? Link

Dear me!
"The club last won a game in 1992, but no one can remember who they beat."
That is rather tinpot, isn't it?

Even the referee of the 7-7 match sounds suitably tinpot.

Priceless! The goalie runs one of the two pubs on the island, and I'd guess at the average age of the players being 40+. I vote that we officially adopt this team as being the epitome of the meaning and statement of our forum - with Coops being charged with obtaining weekly updates to go with our results. Love it.

I wonder if they often score from set pieces. You'd expect people from there to be good jumpers.

My guess is the team they did beat will never own up to it even if they do know so it will probably remain a mystery. Just had a look around for any score updates on our friends from Northend. All I found is that they lost 7-4 to Carradale in the match mentioned in the link on the first post. In another twist of Tinpoticity if you search "Northend Thistle"on google the link for this thread comes up on the first page. Good luck Northend! I'll second the motion that we adopt them.

Can anyone find a more Tinpot team than Northend Thistle from the Isle of Arran? LinkHi there, my husband is the captain of the spectacular Northend Thistle. I'm glad to see you are all supportive of Northend, and I liked the mention of Arran Blonde, as I work for the Arran Brewery! I'm sure the boys would be really chuffed if you were to "adopt" Northend Thistle, although I'm sure this will be the year their 15 years of bad luck will end! We have a website at www.fusiveweb.co.uk/northendthistle and a facebook page if anyone is interested. Thanks for taking an interest in Northend, even if it is for how bad they are! Johanne Milne

Thanks for the post, Jo. Love the team photo! One or two of those guys do look a little scary! (And what's that coming over the hill? Is it a monster??) I think some form of adoption must now proceed. (If the good people of Arran can reciprocate with a supply of Arran Blonde, so much the better. )
