If you've got the BBC iPlayer installed (and are quick) you can still watch the article here: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/page/item/b0094ytd.shtml?filter=category%3AletterC&scope=iplayercategories&start=1&version_pid=b0094yq1 or something like. Here, at any rate. Mr. Milne is featured about a minute into the program, then later on there's the main feature at 53mins:07 seconds. Hurry, though. The programs are only kept for about five days after airing. In theory I'd be up for a trip in early June, especially with mountains like that to run up! Stunning place to visit, that's for sure. I suppose if we could get a rabble together, we could consider taking a minibus? EVEN if not this year (given the short notice etc.) we could always try and plan things for next year - get enough of us to make up a team, and make a proper challenge for the tinpot title. I reckon between us we've got it in us! ;D

I assume we'd want to combine any visit with a home game. OK, Northend play in the Arran league so the away games aren't going to be too a huge distance away! But perhaps we should await the publication of fixtures in a few weeks' time before deciding on a particular weekend.

Had another Arran beer today, can't remember the name, hic, but it had a ginger touch?

Doesn't seem to fit the tasting notes of the regular brews; but I am a total sucker for genuine ginger beers - so this will be sought out on our safari! Jo??

hi, sorry for the delay!
that would have been Fireside - we only make it over the winter. it only comes in casks, and i'm thinking maybe you tried it in a Wetherspoons pub as they had a big promo on for it over winter.
unfortunately we've stopped making it now for this year - you'll have to wait til next winter!

I'd love to make one of these games - but perhaps notice is a little short. I've now got something else arranged (at least provisionally) for every weekend in June and July. Northend v Southend (in London we have East End v West End ;D ) on 5 July looks inviting - but it clashes with the Stamford riverside gig. But maybe if that doesn't come off....

i know, sorry about the short notice. a lot of the guys who play in the football teams also play in the rugby teams and due to bad weather the rugby season was running over. they couldn't start the footie season until the rugby was done so everyone had to wait until that was finished.
thankfully today is a beautiful day on the isle of arran, so everyone is ready and raring to go for tonight!
another little note, the Arran Brewery shut down a few weeks ago and we all got made redundant, so i'm afraid we'll be lacking a supply of Arran Beers....

I read about Arran brewery's demise in What's Brewing. Really sorry to hear about that.

No more Blonde!! I am going to have a bash at getting to one of the final two games - after all of this correspondence, it seems rude not to somehow! We are supposed to be moving on 15th July; so I doubt whether I'll be missed if I just carry on going north and north and north... If we don't move for some reason, I'll need somewhere to hide until the urge to destroy estage agents, solicitors etc subsides a bit.
