i'm sure something could be arranged for long-travelled supporters...
i tried to improve the spectator numbers last year by offering a free bottle of beer to all supporters, but no-one came and i had to drink it all by myself....

what, to drink my beer?
our goalie owns one of the 2 pubs within 8 miles of the field (i would say pitch, but that would be lying....), and he's a very hospitable guy, i'm sure some new football banter would be very welcome!

I'll drink it, if you insist ;D
This would be a rather good idea for a trip- I'll copy this thread into the Tinpot Tours forum.

Ohh I like this... I like this a lot.
Arran Blonde is a fantastic beer. FACT.
I love the idea of a trip. When does your season run from/to, Jo?

our season runs from mid may til september, with friendlies either side.
the fixtures list should be out around the beginning of april.
northend are also always interested in playing anyone who'd like to challenge them for the title of the worst team in Britian, so if anyone is interested they can always let us know....

Guys - how about we put ourselves in the firing line - and actually take on Northend in a game.
TINPOT vs TINPOT

do you own a pub Dar?
that is the qualification for goalkeeper in this game.
This may be an interesting idea - either this or the trip up anyway

I'm not sure we'd ever get eleven of us up there, but a five-a-side team might be a goer!!
How about a bit of sponsorship along the lines of what we did at Gateshead back in PP days?
The Isle of Arran is stunningly beautifu, it has all the things you would expect to see in Scotland all crammed into one fantastic island. The Cir Mhor mountain will take your breath away, it really will.
I don't know which pubs are near the "stadium" but I stayed in the Ormidale Hotel in Brodick which has real-ale in the bar!! The other pubs I remember are The Lochranza hotel (real ale again!) and The Blackwaterfoot Lodge (superb sandy beach a short stroll away)

the lochranza hotel is just down the road from "Hays Stadium", home of Northend Thistle.
our goalie Norman owns the Catacol Bay Hotel, a couple of miles away.
Coops, you're right what you say, Arran is beautiful. our field/pitch is also next door to the Whisky distillery....

I think I might have just discovered where I want to go for my holidays but I will need to convince the wife and daughters that the attractions of Arran will outweigh the attractions of Tuscany

I know where it is now, did the distillery tour, had a pint in Lochranza and then caught a ferry over to Claonaig to take the drive via Lochgilpead to Oban. I wasn't driving!

Erm, why haven't we set a date for this already? Football, beer and whisky? It's not as if we have anything to do from May to July, is it? ...I will need to convince the wife and daughters that the attractions of Arran will outweigh the attractions of Tuscany Ah, that's easy - no language barrier! Oh, hang on... it's in Scotland, isn't it? Scrub that then. ;D
