Oh God, I hope I can get STRAIGHT to sleep as soon as I get to bed, i.e. in about five minutes.
I have to be up at about 6am to start my new job, and haven't had nearly enough sleep lately.

I had to get up at 4:45 this morning so I went to bed at 9:20 last night. I was still awake at 11:56.  So very tired! |

I'm going to bed early tonight. I am so pleased I'm not staying at my new job. Do you know, the commute to Hackney Wick cost me EXACTLY the same amount (11.20) and took EXACTLY the same amount of time (2 and a half hours) as my trip to Eastbourne yesterday to meet nice tinpotters. It would be far more pleasant to commute to Eastbourne, as Hackney isn't exactly an area of outstanding natural beauty. In fact, thinking about it, it took MORE time to get to Hackney than it did Eastbourne. Damn commute |

Argh!
I had a night like that.
The person living above me has what I can only guess to be some kind of exercise machine. This is used late at night and early in the morning, for about an hour at a time, and while it is in use a rhythmic rocking sound with the occasional bump travels straight through my ceiling. It is like an auditory Chinese water torture. This started up at about 9:30 last night. I was so tired I wanted to go to bed at 10, but this noise went on and on. Then, someone phoned me. Afterwards, I tried to get to sleep, but the noise went on and on. Then, someone next door decided to watch a film with the sound turned right up. One of the flats downstairs was playing music, and the guy in the other downstairs flat has a baby, who started crying and carried on for what seemed like forever. Then, as per bloody usual, the couple in my other next door flat decided to have sex. They do this three times a night. Their bed is very creaky, and the woman squeals at the top of her voice. Unfortunately for me and fortunately for her, the man seems to have a lot of stamina and can keep going for at least 20 minutes. When he's done, he is always gentlemanly enough to, er, "finish her off." She likes this. I know because she screams at the top of her voice for another 10 minutes. Then they put the TV on. They are actually loud enough to wake me up, but last night I hadn't even had the chance to be woken up!

No, ear plugs aren't a problem; they don't make any noise at all... seriously, I've tried them and I just can't get comfortable with ear plugs in. Why should I have to wear ear plugs in my own home dammit? I've a good mind to ask the nice lady next door to bite on a pillow when she gets excited. Maybe I wouldn't mind so much if I were getting any myself |
