The Flying Pig, to be honest, isn't on my favourites list although they do do a nice pint. It's the atmosphere I find lacking.
Oi, is it really your birthday today? I thought it was in March. If it is today, happy birthday.

Great site. Cheers for the link! A clowder of cats, ey? All sounds rather sinister. Especially as they're a fairly reclusive, unsociable species anyway. A suitably onomatopoeic term, then...

You are both right Though Hayes have enough to cope with, without being deemed to be a non-event as well! It's just the lure of a Tinpot Tour, even for a non-drinker is awfully hard to resist... By now, given the cold-turkey, the hours of longing, the drinking of salty wet stuff, the desperate search for something 'better', I do assume you've noticed that "Evian" is a clear, flat, inverse-anagram for 'naive', my Emsworth friend? [? It's not a palindrome; since it's only one word. e.g. 'Minim', So what's the term REALLY called? Calling all metalinguistics experts!? ] I thought a palindrome was spelled the same forwards as back'ards? Evian is Naive in reverse, which surely must come under some heading or other - even if it's just Unwinism! OR an unfortunate coincidence Lime & soda, blackcurrant & soda, ginger beer. All of these are relatively useful replacements for alcobeer in these circumstances. I have an added incentive at present; one depserately needs to maintain the current girth; having recently purchased a suit which is not going to see the light of day until May, it does need to fit then - and continued abstinence will go a long way to ensuring that it does.

Best of luck ISIHAC.
I'm struggling to go a day without beer. I so want to go to the star tonight yet i had the marvellous idea not to drink till Thursday night at MiRMiS's industry showcase gig but really, it was never going to happen...

You mean like notloB, well according to a wonderful Python sketch anyway! I actually don't mind where we drink, hic, as long as there is some decent ale for me to enjoy! (I take it that goes without say, but thought I'd say it anyway!

Oh surely one day of imbibery won't hurt your suit ISIHAC? I can't remember all the pubs I went in last time... there were about 10 of them, that's why, and I'm sure amberaleman can help out with remembering. I THINK he was there... ;D Anyway, according to the ads on the top of the Tinpot Tours page, Tinpot Terrace wants us to do more than drink in Cambridge...

I am quite sure that I can devise a suitable drinking plan for 3 March. ;D
In fact, work has already commenced! ;D ;D
PS Sal: last time (Histon!) we started in Champion of the Thames and went on to St Radegund. Then Medibot and I split off to do some civiloized drinking and we rather lost you...

Ah yes, the civilised drinking was rather marvellous.

So was the uncivilised drinking! ;D
Up to a point, anyway.
I can't remember the rest, apart from one or two most unfortunate incidents. Not the beer's fault though.

I may well be swayed on the day; it's a special occasion after all. I may ultimately be swaying on the day, too! One would not wish to look out of place on a Tinpot, now.

That's where I caught up with Medi and Amberaleman, having a convivial pint in the GBG pub in Histon (name escapes me). Thought you might have a plan Mr. A, and you don't usually miss any of the football, so I may stick with you.

That's where I caught up with Medi and Amberaleman, having a convivial pint in the GBG pub in Histon (name escapes me). Thought you might have a plan Mr. A, and you don't usually miss any of the football, so I may stick with you. 'Twas the Red Lion. A coach party of Halifax fans were leaving as we arrived. (They were at Camb Utd that day.) My plan for 3/3 involves a bus trip to an obscure village pub following arrival in Cambridge. But the after-match drinking should be more leisurely, taking in the clutch of excellent pubs (Cambridge Blue, Kingston Arms, Live and Let Live - around 20 different real ales between them) in the Mill Road area. (I think I've dragged Medibot into all three, so he may be willing to attest to their quality.)
