Club captain Steve Pope has made a shock exit, dropping 2 divisions to go to Kidsgrove Athletic. www.telfordutd.co.uk/show_news_item.asp?id=2678We're not too sure what happened either but the reason is apparently due to contracts, our guess being that we didn't offer him one this season, possibl because he spent most of last season out with an injury. In that time his contract was upheld and the club helped with the best medical care & facilites that it could. Quality player and best of luck to him but naturally we are feeling a bit let down at the New Bucks Head. On the captain side we reckon we have several good options though with Palmer, Teesdale and Rodgers all being more than able to lead the side, they all did on several occasions last season. Looking at the Kidsgrove website, they've also signed Dave Woodvine who we released a few weeks ago. We never really saw much of him and when he got injured the squad seemed to carry on and he never really got back in.

Steve Palmer has signed non-contract terms, the wait was because he was away at first and then his fitness was being monitored.
Elsewhere more released players have signed for new clubs. Dave Woodvine has since moved on to Kidsgrove alongside Steve Pope. Dean Perrow has now signed for Rushall Olympic alongside another former Buck, Kyle Perry.

Kidsgrove have a very wealthy chairman. I've heard that their striker Michael Lennon (who scored 51 goals in the season just finished) is on somewhere in the region of 16-17000 a year!

As regards Salisbury, it's too soon for us after the Season to get excited. We always have to wait for our Nick to get back from holiday before the dust settles. Unlike at Eastleigh, usually. Will update you in July on player movements. Re: H&W. "Andy Gurney - I could be so good for you." Not a bad signing I reckon. We could have done with someone like him (esp. Wilts/Bristol based) to replace our Tommy. Should be good for H&W.

Richard Beale, one of the players recently released has joined Rushall Olympic and has also got himself a full time job at Birmingham City F.C. as a coach in the academy.
Some Unibond Premier clubs offered him deals but he dropped another division as it's close to home for him meaning it's not too much travelling with his job at Birmingham City, he's also good friends with their manager.
He also left a nice message on Buckschat when he left; thanking us for the support and wishing us luck next season.

What did Rushall ever do to you?

What did Rushall ever do to you? Ah! I'm glad you asked. As a Tinpot club we are obliged to enter Tinpot cups such as the Staffordshire and Birmingham Senior Cups (I actually like these competitions, they are by far older than any league we happen to play in, but I digress), it was in one of these competitions that we happened to draw Rushall Olympic last season. Now, as is the way with these cups, we were originally pencilled in to play Rushall away in November, but various things got in the way and the game was postponed about fifty times and finally the clubs agreed a date in February. It's a nice local game for me but a bit of a trek for most Tamworthians, especially on a dreary, rainy Tuesday night, but still a decent number made the trip, and it was a horrible night weather wise. Anyway, on the night Tamuff won after extra time, yay and all that, we were through......well actually no, we weren't. Why? Because Rushall have a secretary who is infamous for being both the most knowledgeable non-league geek in the area and for being an utter thingy. You see even before a ball was kicked he knew that Tamworth could not actually win the game. Under Staffordshire Senior Cup rules you apparently cannot play any player who wasn't registered for your club when the original date for the tie was set. The original date was in November, the game was finally played in February, by that time Tamworth had changed their manager AND most of their team! We would have struggled to field a team of first team players who were with the club in November! Tamworth announced their possible squad a few days before the game, and believed in all faith that the rather vague rules allowed them to play their new players, the wording in the rules is amazingly obtuse. As soon as Rushall's Geek Boy saw the squad he must have got immediate wood, after the match he even admitted it, he said that he knew that the result didn't matter because if Rushall lost he was going to get Tamworth chucked out anyway, what a nice bloke eh! Now, rules is (of course) rules, and we apparently broke them, although I defy anyone to make any sense of them if you haven't got a degree in bollockicity, but if Geek Boy knew we were going to break them why did he allow fifty odd Tamworth fans to travel to the arse-end of Walsall in f**k**g awful weather to watch a game we couldn't possibly win? because he's a knob-end that's why, a jobsworth of the highest order, a complete thingy-knocker. And that is why I hate Rushall Olympic.

ah yes, i remember reading about it at the time and thinking that even me, someone who generally listens to any nutter talking about anything to them (If you enjoy sitting on yer own reading with a pint of ale this happens quite often) would get bored speaking to somebody that familiar with County Cup rules and more importantly, somebody who is that much of an arsehole...

haha "bollockicity" what a great word!
Are you sure it's the whole club you hate Coops and not just this arsepoo?
