haha "bollockicity" what a great word! Are you sure it's the whole club you hate Coops and not just this arsepoo? The club knew we were going to play ineligible players days before the tie, they even admitted as much on their website afterwards, they knew that even if we won we would be chucked out of the cup yet they didn't bother to tell us and so wasted the time and money of at least 50 Tamworth fans, nevermind the valuable time of all the players and officials. They were happy to take our cash and then laughed in our faces, so yes, it's the club as a whole that I hate.

Fair enough then! As long as you don't hold it against the fans

As Malx has said this is normally a quiet time for us. Used to get a bit panicky watching others sign players left right and centre, while we didn't appear to be doing a lot. But it doesn't seem to have worked too badly for us in recent seasons so I'm fairly relaxed about it these days!
We've only signed one new player to date but the big news has been the signing of a number of players on full time contracts. Matt Tubbs was the first (to be honest we'd have probably lost him if we hadn't which would have been a big blow to morale all round)
Four others have followed so far - 3 current players, goalkeeper Ryan Clarke, midfielder Mike Fowler and striker Robbie Matthews, plus our one new signing, Liam Feeney from the Hayes half of H & Y United, as mentioned on Stephen's thread.
Talks are ongoing with a number of other players of the current squad (the younger ones with fewer ties we are all presuming) with a view to more going full time. Think we will start the season about half and half full/part time.
Four squad players have left or been released. Midfielder Alex Haddow and popular Irish striker Declan McGregor didn't have their contracts renewed, neither were surprises, shame to see them both go as they were both good lads but had dropped further away from the 1st team. Then two players who spent most of the season at other clubs anyway - defender Gary Middleton, whose 1 minute of 1st team football was as a sub against Forest in the Cup but was at Andover for much of the time, and midfielder Chris Knowles who spent most of the season helping his previous club Bashley get promoted, have both now signed for Bashley.

Lastest Colston Avenue import...James Evans. Former Tottenham ( ) and Bristol City midfielder, signed from Met Police, who i'm sure i've seen play twice last season but can't remember who he was or if he was any good. mind you, the whole Met Police side would have been good (or made to look good!) against us!

We've signed someone! (allegedly) Rumour has it that Carl Frost has returned to the club after leaving a year ago to join Witton Albion. In his first spell at the club Frosty scored 14 goals in just 21 games for the club before breaking his Tibia and Fibula in an FA Cup match against Halifax. (The same day that Djibril Cisse did the same thing at Liverpool) He didn't play for the club again for about a year after that but only made a few substitute appearances with no further goals.
I don't know how his fitness is now or if he can ever be the same player again but fingers crossed!

We've made 2 more signings.
Striker Luke Reynolds has returned for his second time at Telford. He was signed by former manager Bernard McNally in 2005 and despite leaving in February fo Kiddeminster Harriers he finished out top goalscorer that season. He left shortly after our new manager Rob Smith took over. He was released by the Harriers at the end of this season and Rob moved quick to sign him up.
Midfielder Steve Jagielka joins from Droylsden. He was played in the football league and conference before and was once on the books of Shrewsbury Town Stoke City and Sheffield United. Never seen him play before but on paper looks like a promising signing.
With 7 new players joining manager Rob Smith has stated this will be all for now atleast. Youth teamers Elliot Durrell, a right sided wingback and also midfielder Matty Wood have signed non-contract terms and will be involved in preseason, they are expected to feature at some point next season.

We hadn't re-signed Frosty after all. We have signed 4 players though... from the youth team! Plus 2 players who were at Lancaster last season. Yikes!

We've sold Rene Howe to Peterborough U for an undisclosed fee. Only 20, top scorer for Bedford in 2005-06 with 25, top scorer for us with 25 last season - and he didn't really make an appearance before Dec. Two strikers have come in: Mark Rawle from Alfreton (their top scorer last season) and Steve Burton, previously with manager Mark Cooper at Tamuff. We've apparently been given permission to speak with a League 2 striker too.

He looked to have the whole world ahead of him, and with little to prevent him getting it! But I guess only time will tell, and at least he's having a shot at the big time - and hopefully you were well compensated for his loss? Do you personally feel more or less confident of promotion this season, compared to your situation 12 months ago? Question 2. If you could give 1 reason why you didn't see promotion through this year - given periods of near-invincibility at times - what would it be?

Rumours about Howe's transfer fee range from £100k-175k, but all seem to include what could be a very useful sell-on clause. Imraan Ladak's policy so far has been to get in young players with a lot of promise, and he has always said that he would sell them if the price was right and a move would be in the best interests of the player. Last season he publicly stated that he thought Howe was worth £150k. Make of that what you will. I'll have to remember to watch footie on ITV on Sunday mornings from now on to keep an eye on how Rene is doing.
Unlike some gobby KTFC fans on the internet I rarely feel confident of promotion before at least Xmas. At no stage last season did I feel we would go up automatically. We have a few new faces, got rid of some players who weren't, quite frankly, up to Conf Oop t'North standard at this stage of their careers. The managerial change will be a big factor this season. Instead of Morrel Maison's 'beautiful game' theory about football, the new bloke is expected to instil some much-needed grit into the side. We still have plenty of players who want to play attractive football, though.
This is getting like the Spanish Inquisition! :-)
The one reason we didn't do better than we possibly should have done last season can fairly be put down to one thing - Morrel Maison! He was too inexperienced for KTFC, chose some ridiculous tactics at times, played too many players out of position too many times and had his little favourites in the squad (eg big fat Darren Caskey) who he would select before players with more ability.

That's one tidy sum of money!! As you imply, maybe that's the way Ladak wants to do his footballing business. Like you, (at a guess), I'll be nursing my hangover while they show the ITV League round-up of a Sunday morning and keeping an eye out for the lad. The beautiful game is all very well when you've got the pick of the most gifted players on Planet Earth. Nothing personal against Kettering, Northants or England, but I think your new 'gritty' bloke may just be of more practical use in a League as gruff and robust as the Conf North!

We've signed striker Darren Alexander from Hednesford. Apparently he used to play for Telford. Can you tell me anything Giggy?
